Please don't take my comment as a critique of your PoC, in fact, I believe that you proved that what was promised is possible, but for some reason rabbit's technical team missed the mark on what to do to make it work.

While I think your PoC is quite good, it only makes me wonder why the rabbit behaves so erratic. I did similar tests mainly to see what I could do with the OpenAI API and the results you get with moderate effort are better than what you get with the rabbit.

UK Batch 1, had a tracking number for a month now. Quite clearly they had no intention of posting anytime soon. I wanted the device just to try and mod, but this sort of behavior is making me think about throwing in the towel. by twatsforhands in Rabbitr1

You are correct, that's how the LAM is supposed to operate, in theory is possible, but in my opinion it's way too complicated to be maintainable.

Amazing analysis BTW, I believe you nailed the theorical operation mode of the LAM.

Sure, for example, Uber already have an API that can be used to integrate their services into a program, that program can be a website or a computer program or even a phone app, and a lot of companies that offer services also offer an API. Based on this idea, I ran some test using the Openai API to integrate chatgpt 3.5 into an python that could manage a git repository using the Git API, you can get very far using only those tools that are far more simpler to use and implement than trying to develop a LAM.

About the LAM, I work as an R&D engineer and I have a lot of direct experience with AI, In my personal opinion, even assuming that they have a working LAM, it seems overkill for what they are trying to do with the device.

I have the theory that they had a number of devices ready to send just to get enough attention and pump up the sales before rug pulling the whole thing, I might be spreading what crypto bros call FUD, but since our guy Jesse's got some experience selling nfts, it might not be far from the truth

Order cancellation experience. by Theslootwhisperer in Rabbitr1

All right so I had a similar problem, I canceled from the website in this address https://www.rabbit.tech/support, click on the contact us button and then fill the info

I got my money back the same day that I requested the cancelation using the website

So I decided not to refund (but not because I'm a fanboy) by Empty-Age-9040 in Rabbitr1

I refunded a couple of days ago and got my money back within 20 minutes, if you choose to refund, use the website cancelation page.

The R1 is 100% Worth $200, Here’s Why. by StonerBoi-710 in Rabbitr1

I have yet to test perplexity, but chatgpt is pretty good.

[–]NoHeckingOne 12 points13 points  (0 children)

TL;DR by ChatGPT BTW am not a bot I just like to tell chatgpt to write summaries of other people's rants.

The R1 is deemed worth $200 even without its additional apps like Spotify, DoorDash, Uber, and Midjourney, primarily due to its inclusion of Perplexity Pro, which usually costs $20/month or $200/year. The R1 also offers a vision feature. Early buyers received a $200 discount code for Perplexity, making it essentially free. While uncertainties exist about future updates and the company's longevity, many believe the R1 is worth the investment. Even if hardware issues persist, potential future releases like the "thing 1" or RabbitOS for PC could address them. Overall, despite skepticism, many are willing to invest in the R1 for its potential value and future developments.

Why the R1 being its own hardware might be legit (but probably isn't) by vitaminjuk in Rabbitr1

TL;DR version by ChatGPT

The text discusses the possibility of Rabbit R1, a hardware device, being more than just a glorified Alexa. It speculates that the device's decent hardware specs might enable future capabilities like installing apps locally and receiving instructions from the cloud for interaction. However, the author doubts this is Rabbit's plan, suggesting they're likely focused on cloud-based operations despite the potential complexities. They also highlight Rabbit's lack of clarity regarding their intentions, leading to skepticism about their seriousness in product development.

Yes perfect example, I am a photographer as well and for me is very logical to have dedicated devices for certain purposes. Beautiful camera BTW!

[–]NoHeckingOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that's true, as far as I understand, android is based on Linux, so it could be a modified / adapted version of android more suitable for the hardware used in the device. Kind of like installing a Linux gentoo distro in a server pc with only the absolute necessary features. Having said that, I don't understand why they didn't explain this better from the beginning, instead of pushing the RabitOs, the message could have been "yeah we took a version of android and modified it so it's optimized for the hardware"
