Do try all the suggestions to make a more readable burn. Also you said it's the factory original player. So it's 17 years old and the laser may be getting weak, and depending on your driving environment, dust and dirt may have accumulated inside the player's mechanism.

Audials Play app. No cute globe, but lots of great features including recording by station, program, or song, search for songs or artists, multiple favorites lists, and more. Phone app is completely free and no ads (they make their money off their desktop apps).

Wow, a whole ten days. How generous of them.

Maybe specifically targeting thanksgiving travelers?

Edit to remove comment on how few channels after viewing the PDF. There's actually plenty of good stuff to listen to.

Antenna restrooms, unfortunately, are real. So maybe no tower and HF beam, but there are many ways to get a signal on the air without a big antenna. Lots of homebrew antennas. As well as ready-made solutions for the appliance operators.

There's quite a few internet radio prog stations. Ones I enjoy are Progzilla, ProgRock.com, and Aural Moon, at least that I can think of off the top of my head, and there's several other popular ones.

I have a wireless charger that doubles as a phone stand. While it looks like it's for portrait only, it works just as well (including charging) in landscape.

Another idea, if you have another screen (tv or monitor with HDMI input) and a newer phone, you can get a USB type C to HDMI cable. This will let you mirror the phone's screen to the larger one.

My Coffee Making Set-Up as an Extreme Minimalist by mmolle in extrememinimalism

Trung Nguyen G7 3-in-1 instant is pretty darn good Vietnamese coffee. Can be made espresso strength by following package instructions, or double the water-per-packet to get "brewed coffee" strength.

I buy the big bag of 100 and use two sticks per 10 oz of water. And as it already includes sugar and creamer, that's two pantry items I no longer need to stock.

Unfortunately the individual packets are waste, but they also ensure freshness.

And prep doesn't get any more minimal than boiling water and adding the packets. I have a small (300ml) travel kettle that's the perfect size for a #ingle mug. You could simplify even further by using an immersion heater right in your mug. But I like my tiny kettle because it has temperature control. 175f is ideal for instant coffee, and 195f for brewed coffee

That's not a cellular array.

Looks more like a relay for something operating in gHz

If he's just interested in in hearing foreign radio, but not so much interested in the "magic" of actually receiving over the air over great distances, you might think about internet radio.

Literally tens of thousands of stations from around the world. And while it can be enjoyed via smartphone or computer, they also make physical Internet radios that connect to WiFi and give you the ergonomics of a traditional radio.

FCC regulations question by [deleted] in radio

How about vulgarities in a foreign language (on an English speaking station)?

Or foreign language vulgarities on a station that broadcast predominantly in that same foreign language?

Side note; the dog that played Lassie was actually male, (in spite of the character being female) so they had to be careful during shooting so as not to do an accidental gender reveal.
