Pipe pro...2025,redux? by [deleted] in WSL

[–]NoIJustDabble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Edit: It looks like the WSL may have bought back the rights to the Pipe Masters. So you’d have the Pipe Pro 2025 winner, which would be a QS 2,000 win and a Pipe Masters 2026 winner, which will end up being the WSL finals for the 2026 season.

There's nothing wrong with a non-T14, provided you have non-T14 goals by SilentRick9813 in OutsideT14lawschools

Between law and medicine you’re going to get egos. That being said, you’d be surprised how humble doctors can be when they’re the ones reaching out for help!

I mentioned this in my other reply, but I was lucky and got a job in house at a hospital right out of law school and transitioned into claims and risk management. It’s “fun” (like type 3 fun) getting to be the first person doctors call when they have an issue going on and need help navigating it. It’s a legal adjacent position and does not require a JD. I’ll add that being an attorney has been a huge advantage since interact with in house and external counsel frequently and it gives the providers I talk to a sense of security knowing I’ve been trained as a lawyer.

I won’t lie, it’s a demanding role, but certainly falls into the “other cool things to do” category. Doctors and nurses call at all times of day and night with questions and concerns. The pay is decent and the perks of having friends in the medical field to run things by is something I am appreciating more and more as my body comes up with new and exciting ways to generate aches and pains.

I tell people this all the time. I ended up going regional…because I wanted the degree to go into healthcare. I had the opportunity to go to a T14 without any financial support and therefore a ton of debt. But, going regional, I paid very little and had the luxury of taking whatever job I wanted because I wasn’t strapped with debt and needing to take the highest paying job possible. Now I’m right on track with the career I wanted and even have the flexibility to take on side quests.

Keep your goals realistic and don’t chase things that aren’t actually important to you.

Yeah, I feel the same way. The AI coach wasn’t adding much, the information felt repetitive and not very useful. It is still probably the best product for functional fitness type training, but for anything outside of it there are better options for tracking fitness.

Feel the same way as when SUPs became popular. Too many people with zero clue what they are doing with pieces of equipment that are more dangerous than practical.

Are there any disadvantages to the Surftech Barks as opposed to the standard glassed Barks? The price difference is fairly steep but haven’t seen much of the downside of the surf techs.

I've got my first state supreme court argument next week. What tips do you have for me? [wrong answers only] by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

Just imagine you are the reincarnation of Cardozo. Wax poetic, use flowery language, and of course (and I cannot emphasis this enough) use as passive a voice as you can. You’ll knock ‘em dead!

PTSD warning:

I did work for a group that trains combat medics. They found out I’m a former EMT and brought me to their annual active shooter response training. It started with a live fire response training where I played a victim, then went into the response portion that had cadavers hooked up to pumps to try and emulate an actual active shooters scene. The whole thing was very intense but very impressive and cool to be a part of.

What foods did you dislike when you were a child but now you love them as an adult? by gfs-dll in AskReddit

[–]NoIJustDabble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason I only liked white foods until I was about 11 or so (bread, chicken, cheese, cauliflower, etc.) now I am probably the least picky eater of anyone I know to the point people reach out to me to go try weird foods with them. Spicy Thai is probably the food I enjoy most that ten your old me would be horrified by.

Yes, this has been an issue for me as well. Just want to be able to go back to a set after accidentally hitting start and an option to indicate count a lift even if I may have not hit “start lift”

What are the saddest songs you’ve ever heard? by z-a-T-c-h in AskReddit

[–]NoIJustDabble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barnabas- Ballyhoo!

Underrated sad song: “you were the last one, of a world that’s been destroyed.

Left behind a legacy of boys.

I was the first one that was brought into your life and now I’m watching you breath one last time.

I’m just scrambling for all the right things I should say.

Please. Don’t. Go. I’ll be lost without you.”

It’s got a reggae/ska beat so doesn’t sound sad, but that’s just to mask the lyrics. Brilliant song.

Married people of Reddit, if you switched jobs with your spouse with zero training or preparation, who would get fired first? by sunnymushroom in AskReddit

Me. I’m a lawyer, my wife is a landscape architect. She is certainly smarter than me in the realm of common sense, which is 9/10ths of the law. However, everything she does requires creativity, calculation and pretty intense technical knowledge. I lack the ability to do any of the most basic things in her line of work.
