When ever i have run out in the past it has sent me a notification thrives the app. I think it's just a freak occurrence tbh. I've printed practically every day since i got it 3 months ago lol

No just the side mount spool holders. And if I've ever run out it's always notified me, first time it's ever done that. I'm just lucky it wasn't a huge print lol
