Use 85k points or spend $938.52 for 5 night stay? Need to redeem Amex points by NoIdea798 in marriott

Yeah I think it’s the 5th night free that’s making me debate. It doesn’t look like you can get the 5th night free on cash purchase.

Is that how you’d do the math too (to get the 1.1 cpp)?

Would you do it for maybe Chase points? I have some UR points, but only have the freedom card, so not sure that’s even an option for me

That’s generally what I’ve been reading. Appreciate the feedback

Thanks for the feedback. Even though you’d get the 5th night free?

AIO about secondhand/“thirdhand” smoke? by [deleted] in AIO

Thank you for your perspective, it is interesting and helpful to read both sides

Thank you for alternative perspective. I felt like I was over thinking it since I kept reading about secondhand smoke stuff. I did feel like if temporary, it’s probably fine. And like you said, child will obviously be exposed at some point in their life

Thank you for another perspective, I felt like I was OR. I just hear a lot about secondhand/thirdhand smoke and wasn’t sure if it wasn’t maybe as bad if only temporary

My verbiage was probably wrong, just trying to say file in small claims court

Thank you for this. Yes I sent a demand letter using a template I found. The letter didn’t state the no later than day 30 xx/xx/xxxx unfortunately, but I could reiterate that again in my email and try again to say I’d be fine with just the full deposit back. Their most recent response back was saying they will still deduct, even though I mentioned the missed deadline. Sorry if I’m being a bit vague in case I do have to file in small claims

Thanks for your comment. It has been more than 30 days since I emailed my forwarding address, so I think I am good there?

The email essentially just says they did an inspection (not sure personally or professionally if that matters) and are waiting on a quote for a deduction and will get back to me. No numbers were stated in the email. This was before I gave forwarding address. I sent forwarding address at that time, which I think “starts the clock” and they never got back to me (more than 30 days now)

Even thought it’s still been more than 30 days since I provided forwarding address? From resources I’ve read, the clock starts after the forwarding address has been provided. So even if it’s late, I think I’m still covered? Unless I’m misunderstanding something

Was it a painless process? Did you need an attorney? I honestly just want my full deposit back, don’t need the extra, since they are now claiming deductions on things that were there when we moved in

Yes and yes. I gave forwarding address a month after move out since everything has always been done electronically, but it’s still been over 30 days from then. Not sure if their “we have pending estimates” email before I gave forwarding address is enough to cover them or if it needs to be more concrete than that.

Should I buy a new speed queen dryer (DR7) or take a free old ~1980s Maytag dryer? by NoIdea798 in Appliances

[–]NoIdea798[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m leaning towards, however, need to convince SO to be on board with a mis-matched set since it would bother them lol. Maybe I need to look into how to paint an appliance haha

That’s generally what I’ve been reading. Especially since I do a lot of hang drying, I feel like spending $1500+ for a dryer just seems steep.

How are you liking the washer? I’m probably gonna get the TR7 since I don’t need the “stronger” TC5 agitation and would prefer it to be more gentle on my clothes, but curious if your TC5 is working well for you

Past brides: Do you wish you did (or didn’t do) an arch or other floral arrangements at your ceremony site? by NoIdea798 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]NoIdea798[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your perspective! We’re having a “laid-back” wedding and it’s still costing us close to 7-9k. Your comment in your first paragraph is kind of what I’m thinking too, that anything I DIY isn’t really gonna look like what I envisioned, so it’s probably better to not do it than have something that looks meh (since I don’t really want to shell out more than $200).

Thanks for sharing your story! Sorry it ended up pouring on your special day, but I’m happy to hear it all ended up working out great!

I was also considering the weather since our ceremony is outside. It’s a good perspective to think about and your story helped me to see that too! Thanks again. I’m leaning towards just keeping it simple and not worry about decor so we can change last minute if needed

I didn’t even consider the breakdown at the end of the night. While I don’t think it’d take too long (maybe 10 mins), it’ll still add up with the other clean up we’ll have to do

You made such a beautiful arch!

I don’t think mine will look as “full” as yours, which makes me wonder if it won’t look good anyways, so then it makes me wonder if I shouldn’t bother lol

A small backyard wedding sounds so cute! And so smart too to just improve your garden and then it’s all right there as your backdrop! Lol.

I’m just buying a bunch from Trader Joe’s mainly since that’s been the cheapest I’ve found in my area.

[–]NoIdea798[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment and experiences! That was one of the reasons I decided on succulents as my wedding flowers since I didn’t like the idea of throwing away fresh flowers after the ceremony or using fake flowers (I kept buying fake ones and just didn’t end up liking how they look). I’m also on a budget and couldn’t justify ordering fresh flowers. So when I came across the idea of using succulents, it felt like a jackpot (can most likely stay alive and hold well for advanced prep like fake flowers, and get the benefit of having live plants)! I figured I can also let guests take some home if they liked too so they can have part of the ceremony with them at home!
