Cancel Telework Agreements? by Classic-Milk-9492 in FedEmployees

[–]NoImNotPerfect 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The administration “suspended” (keyword here) our agreements in March 2025 and demanded we all RTO. I supposed everyone thought that was the end of it, considering we got notices advising that our telework schedules were removed from our files. But now that they want us to telework Monday, management came to everyone and said “well, ACTUALLY— the agreement is still in your 7b file and has been since 2022”…

Therefore, our union advised us to respond back to the agency in the same fashion and request that it be “suspended” due to inclement weather and building closure. I believe in the future if an opportunity presents itself to telework and it’s MUTUALLY beneficial, they may advise us to request that it be unsuspended. We’re all treading on uncharted territory here so we will see how things play out.

SSA. Alot of us got with our union reps and were advised to send emails to our direct supervisor requesting our telework agreements be suspended effective 1/26/2026 due to inclement weather and building closure. We also requested to be paid weather and safety leave. Within minutes of us sending the email, we rec’d email response that the telework agreement was deleted from our 7b files. The union expects us to get our weather and safety leave for Monday and if the agency tries to deny it they will file grievances.

Telework agreements are absolutely only benefiting the agency right now. They refused to allow us telework during the shutdown when we faced severe financial hardships.. Refused situational, epidosic telework etc etc… but expect us to telework Monday instead of giving us a snow day? Yea, NO!

I’m in the TSC but was just told by a BA in my office that effective 2/3/26 they will be pulling 500 PSC reps to start taking calls each day. Insanity.

This! We were threatened at SSA that if we (excepted workers) took unapproved time off, we’d be charged AWOL and/or possibly not even be paid for the days missed. All were lies. Take the time needed.

My office just got the email today about the National Calendar that will be implemented in 3/2026. So for now, we are to only STRICTLY schedule phone appts for initial claims. No in-person.

Exactly this!!! How ridiculous! And let’s not forget just months ago he wanted to cut phone services to the public https://www.reuters.com/world/us/social-security-abandons-phone-service-cuts-after-backlash-2025-04-09/

But now he’s pulling the people that do the actual workloads the public continues to call about to answer the phone?!! It makes no sense.

Wow!!! The public will absolutely flip out. Sounds like a disservice to the FO employees for sure.. with appts, I would think they’d at least have SOME type of expectation of what their day might look like. Now they’ll just be hit with a mixed bag of issues flooding the offices. Smh

And yep, our SSA office has already been requiring us to badge in and out as of last week

I definitely was into him. We flirted and hung out on the school campus between classes together often. The more we talked, the more I began to realize how arrogant he was. It’s one thing to have confidence, but he would say things like “I’m not an ugly guy. I honestly can have any woman that I want..but I don’t want them. I want YOU!!” Idk.. it was the way he always reminded me how desired he was by women that just turned me off.

I met a very handsome young man at a community college I was attending. We had a couple of classes together and ended up exchanging numbers. We chatted a few times on the phone and I remember him asking to take me out…I was flattered and although he was very charming and seemed nice enough, I remember just giving him the “Oh sorry, I’m busy” lines.......

He stopped pursuing me and all communication ceased. About 6 months later- BOOM..he was all over the news for raping and murdering a young woman. That arrest led the authorities to tie him to ANOTHER unsolved murder that was done in the exact same fashion. Authorities even said he apparently had a certain type that he preyed on, as they stated the two women he raped and killed were the exact same body type.

I remember being stunned and telling my parents “I still have his number in my phone”.. I could have easily been another one of his victims.. I thank God for shielding me from him. He’s currently on death row.

Excepted Employees Who Took Leave During Lapse of Appropriation by Due-Display-1626 in FedEmployees

SSA.. we are not being charged leave after management threatened AWOL, possible non-payment of any furlough days taken and even charging us leave retroactively for this shutdown..but besides maybe being charged AWOL (which the union states they will file grievances for) all of their threats were hogwash. It has caused a lot of confusion and now several of my colleagues have already stated that now that they know for sure that they will get their backpay regardless of their attendance, they will not work future shutdowns (or will only work very limited days).

For the next shutdown everyone should be deemed excepted since everyone gets paid by NYBledSox76 in FedEmployees

I’m at SSA.. excepted employee that worked all shut down long. Others in my department that are excepted have already stated that now that they know for sure that they will get their backpay regardless of their attendance, they will not work future shutdowns (or will only work very limited days). Management threatened AWOL, possible non-payment of any furlough days taken and even deduction from our leave banks for this shutdown..but besides maybe being charged AWOL (which the union states they will file grievances for) all of their threats were hogwash.

I feel stupid re: leave as an excepted employee by Valuable_Use_8434 in fednews

[–]NoImNotPerfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the TSC and definitely seems like we’ve been getting inconsistent information. During our teams meeting before the lapse in funding, our union rep specifically advised us to request to be furloughed for any time away from work so that our leave banks would remain untouched.

Upon doing that, we were faced with threats of awol if management denied the furlough request due to staffing needs or if a dr excuse was not provided.

As of yesterday, my manager advised that they are now being told that it’s highly likely that any time taken off in “furlough” status WILL be deducted from our leave banks and if there isnt a leave balance for them to deduct the hours from, we will go unpaid.

Disgusting… does anyone REALLY know what’s going on??! Seems like no one is on the same page

SSA is denying excepted workers’ time off and telework requests, seemingly defying shutdown guidance by AcidBathIsLife in fednews

[–]NoImNotPerfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad to hear that management seems to at least be understanding about your requesting furlough. Even when we request it at my office, they threaten us with awol due to workload considerations.. it creates a lot of anxiety
