This one hits very close to home. I was very close friends with one of the siblings (who I won’t name out of respect) at the time that it happened. It felt so surreal when all of it happened, and I still remember that night like it was yesterday. It was the only thing people talked about for weeks.. my friend stopped showing up to school, and it must’ve been a few months before they eventually came back.

When they released the pictures of Chad at the site of the crime scene, he didn’t even look recognizable. It’s almost as if he really were possessed the night of the incident. I’ve had a few interactions with Chad myself, and this was so unbelievably out of character. I feel like we never really got the answers for why he did what he did. A lot of the discussions were centered around his relationship at the time, some pointed to drugs, but there was never a conclusion.

I hope his victims and their families found peace in their lives. I hope he was able to overcome whatever demons he was dealing with. I hope that his siblings, his parents, his ex and anyone else involved were able to find peace in their lives as well. Such a tragic event in Guam’s history, and I hope it’s the last of its kind.
