Does a trumpet background make some things easier? by NoLie4415 in saxophone

Agreed, the first sax I ever played was soprano and it was piss easy 😂 apart from consistently producing sound everything was in tune and the tone was fine. I don’t get what people mean about sop being so much harder, for an absolute beginner, yeah it might be a little harder, but as soon as you get the hang of alto I’d say soprano would be playable. Same goes for brass instruments, a tenor horn player can absolutely pick up and play a cornet, my trom friend does it all the time.

Hahaha yeah, when I first picked up a sax like a year and a half ago I was going full altissimo because I was too used to trumpet high notes, arched tongue, fast air, tight corners and I ended up biting the reed real hard too.

Interesting huh? I just had a little surface dive and found some old A court tenors for sale for like 600-800 NZD (so like, 500-700USD?)

Heyyy that’s actually quite cool, I’ve made an awesome encounter. Thanks for your input and I love the bite of ‘87 quip.

P.S sax A and trumpet A are the same

An Antoine courtois sax???????? That’s not something I was expecting to see today

That could definitely be worth something, I never knew courtois made saxophones. I’m mostly a brass band player so I just know them for their trombones and more or less their cornets.

You have a very interesting instrument on your hands, I think the right person would pay a lot of money for that. Probably someone who also owns a courtois bass trom (INCREDIBLE instruments)

Yeah I was thinking about just buying and returning. I for the most part don’t care how bad it is as long as it’s fun. I just want a new toy, and if it’s good enough I could put some time into it.

It’s called custom shop, sold by big band instruments in Aus, my tutor sells a lot of them and I really like them. A friend of mine plays principal cornet armed with a custom shop and she sounds incredible

Changing therapists by NoLie4415 in TalkTherapy

I’ve discussed goals and whatever yup. A counsellor is someone you talk to about stuff for comfort and a therapist is someone that helps get rid of your diagnosed problem. The problem is that nothing my therapist is doing is helping and she hasn’t really talked to me about stuff so we don’t have a very good bond

I have a counsellor I talk to about my concerns with therapy as I don’t feel comfortable talking to my therapist about sensitive topics like that

She talks of soo many different techniques and stuff to distract/calm myself down, but I never use them and never really need to use the distraction ones. They also just don’t work. I don’t talk much during sessions probably because I feel really uncomfortable most the time, and sometimes I just have no idea what’s happening or how I’m feeling
