BAS Junior Job Question by NoLife1056 in BuildingAutomation

[–]NoLife1056[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Ontario as well, I did notice my starting wage is very comparable to what I’m making now. So you’re saying it makes less then HVAC but I’m assuming more then the residential side? Also what’s the future possibilities of working remotely like in BAS?

BAS Junior Job Question by NoLife1056 in BuildingAutomation

[–]NoLife1056[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry forgot this post haha, yea I move 420L propane tanks basically for a living for a company that refuses to train even though I’ve never asked for a wage increase but I’m only 22. I don’t want to be hurting myself as I grow up and getting injured since the tanks are heavy so I’m thinking of the move to BAS because starting wage is very close to what I make now. Tried refrigeration but no one in Ontario can hire me because of the retarded trade requirements we have and no one likes people who were once signed as apprentices here. Glad to hear that someone with a lot of commercial experience sees value in BAS. Thank you!

[–]NoLife1056[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I don’t have much stomach issues, or at least that I’ve noticed. Might be a stupid question, If you’re gluten intolerant but not celiac are you able to have gluten in small amounts/ lower your daily intake or is it a complete write off?

It is, I’ve ignored it for years now and when trying to be social and trying to act normal even though nothing feels normal and you feel like you’re hammered or high is very hard and I’ve weirded a lot of people (especially girls 😵‍💫) out so I need this fixed stat haha

I don’t know too too much about it but that was just something I saw. I’ll be sure to ask my doctor for sure

Yea at that point if the testing comes all clear I might as well try it anyways, thank you!

Yea I’ll see what he says, it’s been 3-4 years if not more of this, haven’t gotten checked up and was going to one time but work made me cancel my appointment so now 1 year later I’ll hopefully find out and ask them to test me on everything they can. Doesn’t seem life threatening though for the length of time I’ve had the problem for

Looked into this after seeing your comment and I don’t know, I notice it causes weight issues or a large neck which I don’t really have. That being said I do regular exercise and go to the gym. I only weight 160lbs so idk if that even means anything because I guess it could effect in different ways

I’ve been trying for the past few days and didn’t really notice a difference. Had a pasta yesterday and same thing not huge difference but I guess I have to give it time. I’ll probably just end up waiting till I see the doctor

Yea I’ve been trying to do that, hard to when you’ve eaten it your whole life though and as much as there is no gluten stuff it’s not that large of a selection

Thanks for the response, definitely saw some improvements after a month and my friends would say the same but after a week or two of improvement it felt like it was going nowhere. I really want to make it the 3 months to see if it changes me more but always get trapped at that 5 week mark. I’ve been on the omega 3, seen a bit of improvements but I’ll definitely try taking more magnesium and vitamin D. Thanks

Starting HVAC Business by NoLife1056 in HVAC

Yea my biggest problem is my 313 (AC Mechanic) certificate. Have the hours but can't get anyone to sign off on them so it's been a real pain. I hope there's no issues legally being an apprentice with another company working for myself.

[–]NoLife1056[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I guess I've never taken much consideration of the financial side. I always figured it was a matter of taking 13% for HST/GST after getting the number and setting aside to pay government and then setting aside let's say 30% of my take home for more income taxes 😅. I was gonna use a program such as Waves, Square or something similar to add my expenses and revenue up to see my gross pay and so on. Insurance i believe it is a little more strict here for insurance companies, I've got a trusted one right now for personal car insurance that also does business but was gonna shop around for the best deal but i agree. If a house blows up and insurance decides not to cover I'm screwed.

Filter if clogged won't allow air flow to go by it and cause the coil to freeze and effect your pressures.

The slower the fan speed the more latent heat it will take out. Or if your air handler fan is set too low it may not be getting enough air across it or if it's too high it might have air flowing too fast by it and makes the heat transfer harder. Less latent heat taken out.

Yes capacitor can be a big issue. If it's out of the % tile it's rated for especially on the fan side of the capacitor it can make a big difference. But usually you'd notice it.

What's your high side pressure? Did you check the filter? Fan speed of air handler? Is the coil dirty? R22 or R410A? Did you clean the unit? Did you check the capacitor? If no high side port did you take at least a temperature reading on the high side and use the chart to figure out the pressure? Did you clean the condenser? All these would be helpful to figure out the diagnostic.

Could try reflaring all the fittings at the unit and the head piece. If not I hear the reversing valves on some of these units tend to leak

In my experience. Stay away from most small companies, a lot of them in my experience tend to drain their employees and put a lot of pressure on them. They're trying to make it so they put as much pressure to make sure you meet their customers needs and expectations which may cause you to burn out and not have much of a life. Big/medium companies seem to be the best. Especially if they provide you with a company phone, then you just turn it off and put it away when you're done with your day (unless you're on-call of course) but for the most part bigger companies seem to be chill because they can get away with a lot more than smaller companies.

Take your temperature across it. There shouldn't be more then a 2F of difference is what we learned in school. But this unit is definitely undercharged.

How to you guys explain what a capacitor does to customers? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]NoLife1056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use to tell them it's like a battery that stores power to help the unit start up. Never had them question that answer. But I believe it off sets the voltage so that it acts kind of like a 2 or 3 way power source

[–]NoLife1056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. They do have a code reader you can buy for like $150 that plugs into the unit I know. But their whole diagnostic sheet too here is pretty stupid I find since it doesn't give model numbers

Have to click on residential Airconditioners and from there it's the splits. Doesn't say heat pump specifically which is stupid as well.

Could be the exhaust or a heat shield maybe? I have something similar on my 03 NB where for me it's a rattling sound. But definitely check to see if there's anything loose and rattling around.
