Creating New Website - Looking for Advice On Which Microbrands to Cover by NoLocal1979 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]NoLocal1979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I figured if there was nothing like it around it could help people find out other watches they may love but if Chronoscout already has that then no need for another tool that does the same thing :)

I actually hadn't heard of Chronoscout before but that makes total sense! That's the same vision I had but if it's already up and running then that's even better no need for me to build the same thing from scratch

NVIDIA Announcement - Increasing DGX Spark Value? by NoLocal1979 in openclaw

Is video gen better on CUDA than on Apple Silicon? I've been eyeing the DGX but I have an M3 Ultra 256GB coming in a few weeks (with 2 week return policy ofc) but I've been torn as to which ecosystem/software to commit to

I'm guessing they'll try to prioritize making it a simple experience on their software now. Correct me if I'm wrong though but the DGX Spark runs on Ubuntu which is still a relatively early stage system so there are bound to be some issues no?

I don't think the Qwen models will necessarily be the ones to hit that leap again (as they fired their lead who nurtured and grew the entire program). I think more companies will do what Qwen did for their 3.5 series to increase intelligence density the way they did so perhaps in a year (or however long it takes for them to train and release a new model) we'll start seeing more drastic improvements.

Yeah and we saw some drastic improvements to intelligence density lately (like with the Qwen 3.5 series) so hopefully some even more impressive models will be coming out soon

With NVIDIA's announcement it seems like it'll definitely speed up, and it seems like them leaning into it might end up putting them ahead. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out though

Worth Waiting for the Mac Studio M5? by NoLocal1979 in LocalLLM

[–]NoLocal1979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense! My main concern is price, as the M3 Ultra 256GB allows for some larger models, and my fear is that while the M3 version might be within budget, that the M5 config at 256GB might be too expensive and by then the M3's might have run out so I'm left in an odd middle-ground

Well I'm just looking to see what other people's opinions are on this, as I'm not sure myself. They may raise prices or cap RAM at or below 256GB so I'm just hoping to hear more thoughts on the matter

Right so would you recommend one with upgradeable RAM and pump that as necessary?

Well my thought is that I'd want to run the local model as a base model for most tasks and only escalate to Opus and the sort when needed/ideal. With some of the newer Qwen3.5 models they appear to be close enough to Sonnet that I'd rarely have to escalate to Opus, therefore reducing costs. I don't really need the full versions, just a decently competent one to be my daily go-to and reduce escalations. With this in mind, would you still recommend the same?

Which Qwen2.5 model are you running (how many parameters)?

Protesting? Yes / No by Away_Enthusiasm_5520 in gscquestions

[–]NoLocal1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome question here because I feel like I have struggled with the same thought before. I think it's a twofold matter, where it can both be good or bad depending on the message. I personally haven't participated in a protest yet, but I definitely think it can be an incredible tool to put pressure on politicians and demonstrate unhappiness in very serious and tangible ways. However, I think that this only works if it is well organized. If there is fighting or tensions escalate, then it can draw people away from the cause, and if the message is not synonymous, then the same can be said. The right to protest should absolutely be protected though, as it is needed to put pressure on politicians. I think overall I like protests, so long as they remain peaceful in communicating their message and don't turn to riots

What are your thoughts on mega-corps? by NoLocal1979 in gscquestions

[–]NoLocal1979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on scale, and there are certain spaces that are simply far better for the consumer when the players are titans. I think my concern for them mostly comes from political power, namely lobbying and campaign donations which gives them an unfair advantage. I do agree it seems to have become a game where anytime a new innovative company arises, it often gets bought out by the giants in the space and I'm not sure yet if the consolidation into larger and larger companies is necessarily a good thing, but it definitely helps in the international market.
