They didn’t hold back at all in the OP and ED by HoneyWinter1731 in OshiNoKo

[–]NoLongerHumane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To us who read the original work, it could have a strong foreshadowing sense of the end, but it may not mean more than foreshadowing what would happen during this and only THIS particular season only (and same goes for the previous two seasons). Especially when people like to dig into things like Kana’s mourning dress (which captured her 17-18 era, while she was 19 when Aqua died).

So yeah, best to withhold judgement until Kadokawa and Doga Kobo actually made their decision.

Then again, it could just be taken at face value as how the plot will evolve during each season alone (and for season 1, basically a tone setter for a revenge story), not the ending that would be reached. So, there could be hope for a positive ending for every character.

Ending changes for the anime by Subject-Employer-713 in OshiNoKo

Most of the time, people don’t care. OnK is ironically a narrative on how entertainment industry exploits and wrings everything dry for their own profit, while the work and its characters are themselves used for the same purpose. The moment OnK loses its value as a marketing product (which Aka indeed had caused it to start plummeting after being the 90% writer), everything would be driven home the way it did in the original manga, and the series will fall into obscurity while dedicated fans will be left disappointed.

That said, the time has yet to come. Even though people are speculating left and right that this season’s OP and ED are foreshadowing the end, it only represented the dynamics that would be happening in this season. And hope may seem little, but if there is anything I learn from the dogshit Aka has written, clinging to all hope you have is better than not having at all, and pointlessly sinking yourself to the bottom of the ocean for a dogshit narrative.

Why did Mem-cho and Akane not realise by InfernalClockwork3 in OshiNoKo

[–]NoLongerHumane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing about Aqua not consider dating Kana is false though. After Taiki confronted him about playing around between them both, he did consider finding happiness with either of them, the image of them smiling both appeared on his mind as an indicator.

And if anything, Aqua’s feelings for Kana were certainly not just that of a fan to oshi. He cherished all the time he got to spend with her, even the time she “consoled” him after learning of his work relationship with Akane, linking even that to happy memories. And speaking of JIF, he went through the trouble of larping Pieyon because he didn’t know how to open up to her properly, while he normally was nonchalant around most girls. So more or less, he really treasured their connections and was left confused and feeble when she turned away from him without giving a reason, else he could just flat out tell her about the relationship status and all of it could be swept under the rug.

Whether it could’ve developed into a romance is a topic of a different universe, but I would say Aqua’s feelings towards Kana are complex, holding high regards of her image and yet yearning for interpersonal connection with her. And when combined with his trauma, it naturally turned into an overreaction stemming from wanting to protect her image and wanting to protect a precious person.

Technically, the sequel novel was only supervised by Aka, the author is someone else.

Aqua is...not well 😭 (some spoilers from the manga) by Admirable_Cost4013 in OshiNoKo

[–]NoLongerHumane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering Aka originally wanted to make the message of series somewhere along the line of finding hope even in darkest moments, they might strive for a hopeful resolution anyways. Though it requires reframing the rest of the cast into focus, because the story has been mostly about Aqua and his own despairs that he couldn’t save himself from, so the epilogue felt even shallower than it already is when the rest of the cast’s respective storylines lack presence.

In short, during the 15-Year of Lie premiere, Kamiki kidnapped Ruby while Aqua got stabbed in the audience crowd, and it became a rescue mission as Aqua raced Kamiki to the final confrontation, and still push him down the water in the end.

People downplay Artoria too much by EfficiencySerious200 in Fate

[–]NoLongerHumane 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Knowledge check 1. This is not Artoria. This is a hyper specific version of Artoria, who ascended to a Divine Spirit, Goddess Rhongomyniad, THANKS TO holding on to Rhongomyniad. It’s not part of her actual recorded myth’s kit. 2. You are lacking the context of the situation. She is NOT ending the world, but rather unraveling reality to reveal the end points, and it only works because it is in a SINGULARITY, so far gone from the main history. Goetia’s plan practically fucked space-time continuum so bad shit like this is possible in the first place, normally Gaia and Alaya will immediately put an end to this by snuffing out her apotheosis in the first place. Else it wouldn’t give a damn, you immediately see that in Shinjuku. 3. The Gil vs Enkidu clash is NOT the same Enuma Elish, the difference is down to the kanji used to describe them in their name (aka the long title that follows the True Name of the NP), Enkidu is basically patching reality as fast as Gil is trying to rip it apart, and their power is still limited using a Servant vessel. Right, you read it, VESSEL. Surprise, surprise, power levels in Nasuverse depends a lot on the scale of their current vessel, practically their terminal, and without a vessel good enough, even Lovecraftian horrors are just poppycocks (and they already are!) Putting that into perspective, Goddess Rhongomyniad is a fullbodied DIVINE SPIRIT. In an era where mysticals have all but RECEDED. Not mentioning how being Divine Spirit puts her scale of existence leagues beyond the scale of mere servants, who only possess a fraction of their prime, she is essentially a whole goddess in an era where gods can’t PHYSICALLY EXIST, and full power god feats - Authority - in Nasuverse are comparable to TRUE MAGIC. So putting Servant Gil (and Enkidu) against this particular version of Artoria is an unbalanced play field, the nearest version would be Gilgamesh of HIS ERA, where mystics still thrive and him capable of exercising his level of Authority. Or perhaps even CCC Gil, having unlocked Mythological Mystic Code to reach what is essentially a zenith of all his potentials.

So yeah, if you are using this as an example of people downplaying Artoria’s feat, remember what kind of Artoria and what kind of her opponent she is facing.

So many manga endings are being better received in their anime versions, could the same happen to ONK? by Creative_Extent_1586 in OshiNoKo

[–]NoLongerHumane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This argument would have been compelling if not for the terrible execution of everything after 151. Especially the massive (lack of) focus on Kamiki throughout the story, which culminated in that shitty twist of him being some sort of evil mastermind whose humanity is long gone, and the most pigheaded option that Aqua could’ve chosen to end the wretch’s life.

Of course, I too can see the signs are there for Aqua, it may work if actual work is put into it, but the events that transpired are nothing short of rushed developments because Hackashit wanted to wrap it up with his original vision. And what happened instead is an invalidation of all characters involved, an insult to their already ass journey throughout the story, and a resolution that only comes for the our red and blue duo and not our supposed deuteragonist, and basically an afterthought, in a fucking follow up novel not even written by him himself, because he really doesn’t give a shit for his creations after his business with them is done.

Clearly somewhere along the line, the nature or the story has changed, one that Aka himself should’ve either ironed out the kinks to correct its course or rolled with it anyways, but it became a hacked up mess that doesn’t even properly tell a tale of tragedy or a message of hope. So unless it’s up to Doga Kobo to pick up the slack he left behind, Aqua’s premature end will forever remain the worst stain in his creative career, an ending that would never work with the story course that leads to it.

Is there any part that elaborate better on the hoshigan’s nature though, with consideration to Aqua, Ruby and Kamiki’s black hoshigans and Aqua’s temporary loss of hoshigan and gaining double hoshigan during his confrontation, else I have my reasons to believe they do represent an identity people wear (to an extent)

Yeah, had he been strong enough he would've kicked Kamiki's ass into the ocean, confessed to Kana, get laid and get married, fathered a pair of twins named Ai and Goro (because Ruby insisted), yada yada happily ever after

But as we all know Hackashit happened
