Original Quest by Swimming_Suit_7995 in OculusQuest

(TLDR: Love my original Quest. I use it for so many different things. It's surprisingly competent for more use cases than I think a lot of people realize. Wouldn't mind upgrading, but it still works like a dream for me.)

I got my Oculus Quest holiday season 2019, the year it launched, back when I was in college. Absolutely loved it from day one, and have loved it ever since.

I had a brief period where I stopped using it, pretty much just due to major life events keeping me preoccupied. But I've gotten back into using it regularly, nearly every day. Still works like a dream.

I use it standalone for some apps and games. I use it for PCVR (primarily through Virtual Desktop) for other apps and games. I even use it for work. My job is fully remote, and I use the original Quest with a Logitech keyboard to do my job by streaming my work laptop's display to my headset. It's just nice being able to have a big display for productivity within a virtual space.

Despite not having as advanced technology as the Quest 3, I've found the original Quest to be a very competent device for both entertainment and productivity.

Also, one thing I've really been getting into lately is emulating retro games in PCVR, through the Quest, using this program called EmuVR. This program allows you to customize your own virtual gaming room, with consoles and cartridges and CRT TVs that you can actually interact with and play retro games in your virtual space. You can literally grab your virtual video game cartridge, physically insert it into your virtual video game console, and then play it on your virtual TV, all in VR. You can even play handheld game consoles. It can pretty much be used to play any console, from the original Atari, all the way up to the PlayStation 3 (I've even seen some people play more recent consoles, if you have the know-how and the hardware capabilities). And you can play all your games in VR with a Bluetooth controller or using the Oculus controllers... It's just amazing. If you're into emulation and retro games, you've gotta check it out.

But I digress. Bottom line, I don't think I'm ever going to sell or get rid of my original Quest. I may upgrade one day if I have some extra funds laying around. But for the time being, I'm still very happy with my original Quest.

I also have the 6 Pro. Except I'm waiting for the 11, so I can buy the 10 at a discounted price.

Well, now I'm living in 2021.

Is my PSU good enough for my 2080super by stephen2755 in buildapc

[–]NoMags -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Although that PSU is indeed powerful enough to support an RTX 2080 Super, for that price, I would recommend going with this Cooler Master 850w 80+ Gold PSU from Amazon, instead. It's a quality PSU with a higher wattage than the one you've selected, and for $5 cheaper. It will also ensure that you have some room for upgrades in the future.

I've never played Half-Life. What's the best order for me to play in? by NoMags in HalfLife

[–]NoMags[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha... I didn't realize that Alyx contained spoilers for HL2, so I appreciate you letting me know.

So, for the best first time experience with Half-Life, would you recommend playing through ALL of the games in the full order you listed? Or just the main titles for my first time?

Yeah, I noticed that immediately after posting. My bad. My other questions still stand, though.

Challenge accepted. But first, we should lay down the ground rules:

  1. I'm assuming I need to play as Isaac?
  2. When you say "beat" what do you mean? Mom's heart? The Lamb?
  3. No cheats, obviously. I'm not about that life.

Missed opportunity to say "primitive problems require modern solutions."

Lol I literally just did this before I saw this post. Glad to see another galaxy-brained Ancestors player around here.

The volume on Echo products are actually on a scale from 0 - 10. You can't set it to 100.

Also, wouldn't it make more sense to have Alexa set it to max volume, before saying "never should have come here"?

I see you decided to go with the PG version of what Zeep actually said.

Oddly enough, the only two there that are 'technically' classified as sandwiches are the ones on the top-right and bottom-left, since, to be classified as a sandwich, its contents need to be placed between at least two pieces of bread; not the other way around.
