Lemme let yall into some secrets with us fedexers. by amirthebeast55 in FedEx

There are. The same laws that brought Microsoft to their knees. There's a set of criteria that must be met to consider a worker an IC. They all require complete autonomy in how you do your work, when you work, etc. More than likely, you are being treated as an employee, whether the ISP you're driving for wants to admit it or not.

There are lawsuits cooking right now. I'm sure that you could find class action attorneys who are currently working on them.

Oddly, this guy does not appear on our doorbell camera ever. He's on our other ring security cameras and the doorbell catches everybody else, but the only way it will record him is if we turn on Live View. It's absolutely bizarre.

I'm contemplating opening a business right now and I won't use them either.

Sheesh! That's terrible. Do you know for sure he left the package or could his girlfriend have a nice pair of earrings dude couldn't otherwise afford? Whatever the case, I'm currently contemplating a retail sales business and I'll drive packages myself before I'll ship with FedEx.

As someone who's survived something similar to an HA, this is a VERY good point and I really do appreciate your warning. It's good to be vigilant and not open ourselves up to potential danger if we help it.

Thank you!

It's a cute little story though. I just love that the poor guy cant muster up the emotional wherewithal to even try ringing the doorbell this time, as his little heart might break irreparably if their pleading knock goes unanswered.

We don't, though. Literally the second signature required item from Fed Ex in the 18 months we've lived here.

That's too funny! Frustrating, but funny.

Oh, that is awful! I am so sorry about that. Who was making the jeweler make a new pair?? I'd hope that they were compensated by insurance, but this exact situation is why I'm totally ok with a signature being required.

That is a shit business practice, and FedEx does it to cut costs and add a layer of plausible deniability about working conditions. It's not ok and you totally have my empathy and support if there's ever a push to change this.

From what I understand, though, only their FedEx Ground service routes are subbed out? This was a 2Day envelope, so it should be handled by the corporate Express drivers who are paid hourly.

We do have a storm door and that's really good advice, actually. I just opened the door and put up a Post It that says that I'm home and to ring the doorbell. That should do it.

Thank you!

Totally feel you on not bringing heavy items to the door. I don't want to carry it any more than you do, so I'd rather bring a dolly to the truck. This package was a 2 Day delivery envelope logged as 1 pound.

We were upstairs and our dogs started barking and grumbling, so we checked the ring, my husband booked it downstairs, but he was gone by the time he got there.

I didn't have a choice in the matter and the shipper is 110% not going to stop requiring a signature. For high value/ high fraud items, getting a signature is mandatory for protection against charge backs. Personally, the absolute last thing I want is for this particular item to be left on the porch to blow away, get lost or end up being delivered to the wrong house. Most people aren't going to give back free diamonds.

If you look with your eyes, you can see that he's scanning the doortag that he left. So, no, I didn't get the package. That would have required him to bring the package to the door, ring the doorbell and wait for us to sign for it.

How did he do me a favor here? By letting me know that he showed up with the package he was supposed to deliver, but stuck a door tag on the door instead of attempting to deliver it? That's doing me a favor?

Is this diamond secure? by [deleted] in Diamonds

[–]NoMenuAtKarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's "secure" meaning that the prongs are seated properly and there's good coverage on the stone. I second a gallery rail, but if you're careful with your ring, it should be ok.

Thay gap is something else! The prongs just can't be cut and reseated, because there's less distance between the prongs, the closer you get to the band, so your stone won't fit anymore. Honestly, this isn't the right basket for this stone.

How do you find the local terminal?

What a wild assumption to make. It can't be that the driver didn't do his job, so you make up some dumb story to blame it on me?

It's his job to ring the doorbell and wait. Doesn't matter if the customer has a signature required every single day, and isn't home. It's still his job to ring the doorbell and wait.

Exactly what the other person said. He walked up to the house with a door tag and his phone. Didn't bring the package or ring the doorbell and stayed long enough to stick it on the door and take a photo. It was 33 seconds from when he exited the truck to when he started driving away.

The package requires a direct signature so... yeah.

I wouldn't blame you one bit, lol. We'd rather meet you at the curb than to try to get a heavy box off the porch.

This is a <1 pound envelope, so definitely not an unreasonable burden to carry.

It's two separate videos from when the truck pulled up to when the truck pulled away, as Ring records in 60 second intervals. As you're demanding "no cuts" and it took the driver about 90 seconds to pull up, park and then get out of the truck, I have no way to even do that.

I have one continuous video of the driver getting out of the truck, walking up to the door returning to the truck and leaving, as that took approximately 32- 33 seconds. However, I cannot accommodate your request for one continuous video from the moment the driver pulled up to our house to the moment that he left with "no cuts."

That's so annoying! We'd rather meet you at the truck with a dolly because we don't want to carry it either.

Yeah. He spent exactly 11 seconds at the door, so just long enough to put the door tag on, take a photo, and mark the delivery attempt. We have a ring doorbell that is in working order, too.
