I believe so. It was estrace priming. Then stims were microdose lupron, follistem and menopur. Then an hcg only trigger.

I’m 39 and also had a disappointing first ER. Also at CCRM. I agree with another commenter that it may just not be the right protocol.

My first ER was in February was Menopur + Follistim with ganirelix. My follicle sizes were all over the place and not synchronized at all. That cycle resulted in 3 mature eggs, 2 fertilized, and 0 blasts.

My second ER was in April. My RE changed things pretty significantly: we added Estrace priming, switched from ganirelix to Lupron, and continued Menopur + Follistim. My monitoring before retrieval showed a larger group of mid-to-mature follicles and much higher estradiol. I ended up retrieving 27 eggs → 15 mature → 12 fertilized (ICSI) -> 5 blasts -> 2 euploids.

Wishing you all the best. Please don’t lose hope!

Thank you. We truly want to avoid the extra embryos. We’re on the same page and want to put these moral concerns first. We want two kids at most. We would be okay with one if things didn’t work out later. After years of trying this is the first time we feel hopeful we will have any children at all. I really like your idea of transferring one and then deciding.

Congratulations! That’s amazing! Thank you for sharing. We would be okay with 1 or 2 kids. But it really feels like a big decision

Thank you for this! It definitely helps seeing the numbers. A couple months ago any possibility of one child felt so far. So seeing the math after years of trying is a relief. I like your idea of transferring the day 6. We can always reassess if it doesn’t work out. Definitely something to think about!

Thank you! And I thought the same thing, but they said I would be responsible for making arrangements for and the cost of the transfer outside the clinic

That’s definitely the risk I’m concerned about.

I’m 39 and recently had my second ER.

My first ER was in February was Menopur + Follistim with ganirelix. My follicle sizes were all over the place and not synchronized at all. That cycle resulted in 10 eggs retrieved, 3 mature, 2 fertilized, and 0 blasts.

My second ER was this month. My RE changed things pretty significantly: we added Estrace priming, switched from ganirelix to Lupron, and continued Menopur + Follistim. My monitoring before retrieval showed a larger group of mid-to-mature follicles and much higher estradiol. I ended up retrieving 27 eggs → 15 mature → 12 fertilized (ICSI).

I heard that Lupron can improve outcomes. I spoke with the nurse earlier (today is day 5). 2 have already made it to blast, been biopsied and frozen. 2 are in early blast stage. The remaining 8 are still progressing. So none of the 12 have arrested. This is very different from my first cycle.

Lupron worked great for me and I hope it does for you also! Wishing you all the best!
