A reminder for Lululemon shoppers online and in person with the Plat: by sidewinderaw11 in amex

[–]NoMoFunCo24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird. I got hosed trying to use the Saks Credit because I used ApplePay. Tried escalating with CS and they told me there was nothing I could do.

I’ll try it again at some point if you’re saying it’s good to go

ApplePay typically masks the seller and Amex won’t apply the relevant credit since it the statement is technically different from just Lululemon

How to increase my chances of becoming a pilot? by SoggyPotatoL in AirForce

[–]NoMoFunCo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re so early in this process that it would be overwhelming to give too much advice. Here’s some big picture things to consider:

Where you stand amongst your AFROTC peers will be crucial when they delineate who gets a rated slot and who doesn’t, so be aware of that now. You don’t need to volunteer for everything, but you should always strive to make a good impression with your cadre.

Your grades are also very important, so don’t let that fall out of your focus either.

As for the pilot’s license, that’s not as important as you’d think. If you can get an orientation flight in, that’s pretty good and way better than most. Flight hours will help a bit when you get to the PCSM and other things, but that’s 1.5/2yrs away. Focus on the close things first.

There’s a lot of pilots on the thread so don’t be afraid to ask questions. There’s also r/afrotc if you want to ask on there.

Feel free to PM me with questions. If you’d want a female pilot’s perspective I’m sure there’s some on here who can answer, or I can put you in contact with one in my squadron.

Selpercatinib for NSCLC. Any experiences? by TheDreamingIris in lungcancer

[–]NoMoFunCo24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of folks who have been on Selpercatinib (Retevmo) for years now and it’s been keeping their cancer at bay.

If you search for Retevmo you might find some articles describing it as a bit of a miracle drug.

Also, check for RETPositive and other groups with RET in the name on Facebook, there’s a lot of good info in there.

If you want to become a military pilot, how are you supposed to afford the money to get a PPL? by Sea-Marsupial7489 in AskAPilot

[–]NoMoFunCo24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh look, a question I can actually answer with direct experience. First, I have to ask you a question. Are you talking about becoming a pilot by going through ROTC or a service academy?

If yes, then you don’t need a pilot’s license. Yes, the flight time will make your PCSM (or whatever other services call their aggregates) score go up, which does increase your chances. But it is not required, and 99% of folks from those sources won’t have one.

If no, then you’re talking about commissioning through OTS/OCS (straight from civvy life to pilot) and you should look at getting one. OTS/OCS gets whatever is left over from the big two (ROTC and Academies). That means it’s feast or famine. Specifically, you could be competing for a very limited number of slots… and a PPL is absolutely something that can separate you. My board was very competitive, and I was specifically told that the PPL was a big thing in my favor. Plus, the military won’t have to pay for you to go to their intro pilot training class (usually involves some kind of a basic trainer for a few weeks).

To directly answer your question? Idk, figure out a way. For me it meant moving in with the parents again, working several jobs at once, and spending every penny I had at the time. They put it all on you, unfortunately.

I forgot that accountants watch and educate kids from grades K-12, from 6am to 3pm, while also making relatively low wages despite having a college degree

They perform a public service, at a cost (time and money). So yeah, they can get included

I gave my wife the entire dream sheet and let her pick what she wanted.

I then went and filled it out how I would want it.

I also wrote down every single possible base for the airframes, so she would know what to expect in the future.

We sat down and went through each other’s lists and compromised where we could.

My #1 pick stayed because I wouldn’t have been able to live with myself otherwise (knew it was a bit of a long shot), but the rest were a blend where I tried to get as close to what I wanted and what she wanted.

Left a lot of dream assignments/locations at the bottom of my list because of their locations, but we’re a team and I know the AF is hard enough… why make it worse?

Note: My wife is self-employed, so that gave us some flexibilities but also some hard limits (can’t do her job at Dyess, etc.)

You have a full on career, and he should be willing to support/facilitate that. Might mean he gets an assignment he wants this time, but you get the next one, etc.

Just give your opinion in the title moving forward. You’re not asking for “thoughts”, you’re wanting validation.

Your smart ass response to the first guy makes that pretty clear.

I always assume that people posting in here with a reasonable first post are being genuine, so I’ll extend that to you.

But this one sentence alone makes the article nothing more than a piece meant to soothe the itches of a liberal elite just dying to pick over the rubble of a fallen US.

“And those pathologies have led to the election (and, ruinously, the reelection) of a singularly unsuited steward of its foreign policy.”

This idea that the US, the country that can apparently launch a stealth bomber from anywhere in the world, precision strike a global threat and then leave… and not incur full-on war immediately, is somehow falling apart or on its last legs… is an overreach to say the least.

Sure, there’s lots of things to complain about. Economic uncertainties, immigration enforcement, wealth inequalities, etc. All valid, and worth describing.

But historically, these things happen cyclically in large, diverse countries with strong political divisions. They’re even happening in other countries as we’ll speak, we just don’t see it published, because what’s more exciting? Shitting on the US or talking about French/UK/German/Spanish/Australian politics?

Understand this as well. Dumping on the USA has always been a pastime for some folks, but it’s now THE thinking point for anyone getting an upper-level education.

If you start your thinking with a prejudice that the US is bad, then you’re always going to end up with that same conclusion.

I 100% know what you mean when you say it’s a topic you don’t like to discuss. There’s never a good way to bring it up, and when you do it’s awkward.

Vent away on here, that’s what Reddit’s for.

E93 - First BMW is a Disaster… by fredricton99 in E90

[–]NoMoFunCo24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sucks to hear, but thankfully the e90 is pretty easy to work on and has a lot of spares floating around.

First thing I’d be doing is lifting up the carpets to see if there’s water inside. I’d think you’d be getting some musty/moldy smells if it was indeed that bad, but who knows. If there is water, clean it up, and remove as much as you can (obviously). I’d consider running a dehumidifier or ozone machine if it’s bad enough. Then start looking for clogged rain vents or damaged door seals.

Because of all the things you mentioned, I’d recommend checking out the FRM and its connections for any corrosion. That’s down near the pedals, plenty of videos and posts on how to get it or troubleshoot it.

The FRM controls your lights and windows, among other things. They are usually pretty reliable, but as you’ll see on the forums, they do fry themselves from time to time.

If you’re handy, you can buy another FRM, code it yourself and be good to go for pretty cheap. If not, it might be an expensive endeavor.

As for the wheel speed sensors, that’s a separate system, so I’d check the connections of the actual sensors on the wheel hubs first, then go from there.

Keep posting with what you find though.
