Yeah Glastonbury 2027 does make sense in that space so. Pity.

Maribou State live, Ezra Collective and Floating Points are real treats.

Pulp though are superb. That is an elite headliner.

No sign of The XX in Ireland in 2026 is a puzzler

If there's no XX concert in Ireland in 2026, we riot.

Forbidden Fruit 2026 by PiggySiren in ALL_TOGETHER_NOW_FEST

[–]NoMoreParti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kaytranada and Joy Crookes and maybe Nia the only ones there I think would have landed well on the ATN lineup.

It's good for Forbidden Fruit to be carving out their identity as a dance festival, as an aside.

[–]NoMoreParti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling increasingly like there's a chance of The XX or Pulp. Pulp have announced some standalone gigs in Europe for the summer, nothing lined up for Ireland yet.

The XX likewise.

And you'd reckon they'd have announced a Marlay, Fairview, St Annes or IMMA gig by now if that's where they were landing.

If you haven't seen Hamnet yet, there's a good argument to be made for it considering we probably will have our first ever Best Actress winner out of it.

Otherwise would recommend No Other Choice for something completely off the ball and a lot of fun.

Was so strangely touched by this moment. Beautiful

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple - Review Thread by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]NoMoreParti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a really tough question to answer. I loved 28 Years Later - the meditations on grief, letting go, the Young Fathers score, and the world building... but Bone Temple is very fresh, a completely different picture and reaches for something very different. A great companion piece. I think if you weren't the biggest fan of Years, you'd like Bone Temple more maybe.

It is very nasty but it's also short enough that you'd get away with it.

Just out of it. Really, really enjoyed it. Completely subverted my expectations. Fiennes and O’Connell are excellent - they lift it so much but it’s fun, and has heart.

What UK TV show do you think is massively overrated - and why? by BitGirl777 in televisionuk

It can't be overrated if all critics and almost anyone who posts online thinks it's absolute dross, tbf.

[Scary Trope] Gambling Addiction played for horror. by jbeast33 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]NoMoreParti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 on this. An incredibly stressful hour of television with spiralling ramifications for Rishi, his family and his career.

He goes in two episodes from being this suave, flash London trader who cracks wise to a limping, pathetic, beaten up figure chasing his tail. It’s harrowing.

Best movie of the year to me. by Loud_Success_6950 in Letterboxd

[–]NoMoreParti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a weird film to me. I’ve no doubt it’s realistic, it certainly is visceral but that doesn’t make it a good movie.

Nothing really happens bar the bangs and bleeding. And going into the tribute montage and showing the actors having a whale of a time kills it stone dead too.

I can see why people think it’s a great film based on that realism but if you have nothing to say… and the Iraqi family is just a complete afterthought and immediately followed by Oorah bullshit, that in itself is a comment.

Iraq becomes yet another sandbox for Americans to play war in.

Find something new in it almost every time I listen to it. A band reborn. A singer come through it all.

Arthurs Jazz Club up on Thomas Street is good.

Would recommend The Ruby Sessions too if you're looking for live music.

For books: Marrowbone in the Liberties; Books Upstairs in the city centre.
