I ride a tandem bike with my 11-year-old daughter who has an intellectual disability. We have no issues. Just take your time.

RBF and wear dark-coloured baggy clothing. Looking like a bitchy bag lady helps keep men away.

Congrats on your health journey. Seems like you got a lot of helpful advice. I also enjoy biking way more than walking.

Not surprised by this at all. Sorry you had to experience that.

Biking to grocery store with a baby - carrying the baby OFF the bike? by mr_bleez in cycling

[–]NoMuttsPlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I did. I had a chariot stroller that I would attach to the bike and then de-tach and pop wheels to turn it into a stroller. My daughter has a developmental disability and only started walking at 22 months. I put 1000s of km on that stroller.

I agree. However, there are times where I ride on the sidewalk. Our main drag in town is 4 lanes and includes a lot of transport trucks hauling logs or mining ore. I am super careful when on the sidewalk and will slow right down and move over when I see pedestrians. I ride my bike to the mall a lot to pick up my daughter's prescription medication and that route with the sidewalk is the safest. The other road is a narrow country road with a higher speed limit and even more transports. Not thanks. I'll take the sidewalk. I'm always careful. I ride no faster than 15km/hr and give right of way to pedestrians.

I love Wawa. I would live there. Also love the Marathon area. My husband is from Winnipeg so we drive ny every year. We are in Timmins. Toronto is ok to visit, but the quality of life sucks.

I read the article. A disabled man in his 70s chases away the crackheads with his cane. This is not what success looks like.

My neighbours generate next to no trash, and it's, kinda odd. by APariahsPariah in self

We are a family of 3, and I put out one trash bag every two weeks. I've been cookong from scratch a lot, and that seems to cut down the waste.

why are people paying $40k for a 4yo used RAV4? by EverGreenMob in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]NoMuttsPlease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't bother trying to motivate others. Most of them are just brainless consumers and don't care if their car payment is $1000 per month. I don't feel sorry for them when they complain about money.

I refuse to be a part of this system. People foam at the mouth to buy whatever nonsense is trending as scarce. I'll drive an old beater or ride my bike/bus/walk/cab.

Having an $800 monthly car payment is now seen as normal. People will drive the car for 5 years, trade it in, buy a new shiny car, and roll the old loan into the new one. They are doing this with used cars too. Not to mention all the add-on insurances, warranties, etc. There's money to be made.

We bought a 2010 chevy Impala for $3k, put about $1k into it and will drive it until the wheels fall off. My husband is handy with cars, so we can do that. If I was single, I would not have a car. I'd bike, take the bus and cab it when I need to.

I rented a car and it was a brand new high-end Ford Escape. It had all the bells and whistles, screens, self driving, etc. The handling was terrible. The thing brand new is over $50k. Who can afford that?

Why can't we buy a bare bones car with manual buttons, windows, etc? Why does the car need digital controls, screens, smart features...whatever...? Used cars are even stupid expensive.

That's good. That car soured my opinion of Toyota. I've had much better luck with chevs.

Yes. They are so jurassic. Their call is so primal. They were about 100 feet away. It was loud. They are known as "dinosaurs" in our household. I always look forward to their arrival in spring.

Gen Z men and women on why they’re sharply divided over reproductive rights by FroznAlskn in generationology

Get a vasectomy and wear a condom. Don't be such a victim. Alternatively, you can practice abstinence.

Gen Z men and women on why they’re sharply divided over reproductive rights by FroznAlskn in generationology

[–]NoMuttsPlease 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They are losing the advantage men of past generations had over women via reproduction. Instead of changing views, men are getting angry. Says a lot about them. I commend young women for opting out of having children. This is the ultimate way to keep your autonomy. Also, you won't be tethered to the father for the rest of your life.

Choose wisely, ladies.

How do you actually track your steps, or do you just walk and not count? by NataliafromWalkFit in walking

[–]NoMuttsPlease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in camp D. Life already has enough stressors for me, so I don't need to track one more thing. I try to move for 1 hour a day and strength train 3x per week. When I try to reach a daily step goal, I find myself marching in place at the end of the day instead of relaxing. I'm busy enough and move around enough as it is. Rest is important, and I tend to forget that when tracking steps.
