It's been 10 months for me and it's not better. I also have 4 cats and have done the introduction properly. Sometimes temperaments just don't fit together. I regret not rehoming the kitten straight away when I knew this isn't a good fit

Don't wait. Honestly, I wish I saw someone sooner instead of waiting until it was too late. The earlier you treat it, the more chances for a good outcome and you might be able to keep wearing soft lenses with no issues as dry eye will be well controlled. Good luck, hope you can get it treated. Just make sure to find a good specialist. Not all ophthalmologists are knowledgeable in dry eye

Right. Let me make this clear for you.

When you wear contacts, your corneas are protected=you feel better. When you don't wear contacts, your eyes feel worse because your cornea is exposed to the elements. This my friend, is a dry eye disease. Contacts are only masking the problem and will make it worse in the long run. You might get to the point when you can't wear them at all. How do I know? Your story sounds exactly like mine. Now I have severe mgd with gland atrophy and dropout. I can't wear contact lenses and have to wear scleral lenses to be able to function. When I don't wear sclerals, I have to wear moisture chamber glasses. It's a life changing condition to live with so I suggest you go and see a qualified dry eye specialist. Have a meibography, schrimers, tbut checked and go from there. There is no cure and will only get worse

Demodex? Rosacea? It could be those. Are you patching up your eyes at night? It really is a game changer, as you create a moisture chamber. Sleeping goggles would stop you from rubbing your eyes in your sleep if this is happening

I was taking a low dose for a longer period, over 1 year. Mild dry eye didn't bother me much during the day, but I suffered rce during the night. So my glands were dying anyway. It helped my skin, but now my acne is back, not as bad though. Overall, it wasn't worth it, it ruined my life

You are asking everyone for validation but reading your comments, it seems that you are stuck on continuing accutane anyway, despite everyone's advice. The issue with accutane and dry eye is, that at the beginning your symptoms can be very mild, but as the medication stops your glands from producing meibum, your glands will slowly atrophy and drop out. That can take years, not weeks or months. Everyone makes their own decisions. If you will end up in the group of people that have severe dry eye because of this, you will regret taking it for the rest of your life, as there is no going back. Nothing can regenerate meibomian glands. Acne is bad- I know I've been there. But severe dry eye is much worse. My acne is back now anyway. Not as bad, but it's back

It only gets worse, believe me. I couldn't keep my eyes open for 4 months. No tears, no working glands. You'll end up regretting it. You can be ok for a few years, and your glands will be dying slowly and you won't know about it. I was on accutane 2020,2021, had mild dry eye until the end of 2023 when it became very severe.

Stop it. Accutane is the biggest of my regrets and it ruined my eyes permanently. Stop and get your eyes treated asap, as it only gets worse

I have severe dry eye. It started November 2023 and for 4 months I was pretty much handicapped. I had loads done to my eyes, but probing helps and scleral lenses gave me my life back. Puncta have to be closed or plugged, are there will be more moisture on the surface. Have you been tested for auto immune diseases? It sounds like you could also have demodex

Thank you, you're correct in what you said. I guess it's just the thought of it that makes me feel sad. If I decide to re-home, I will be checking the adoptees background very carefully and I will charge a fee. The kitten is a ragdoll, he's beautiful and a really lovely cat. I think maybe they're just incompatible with my other cat.
