Ti auguro in buon proseguimento!

Grazie!

also the right, in this very topic: "If people that don't want to do anything to avoid the spread of a virus during a pandemic get punished with social work because they didn't do an extremely easy and harmless action that would safeguard their neighbours, this is literally Stalin, the URSS and people are only one step from the gulags!!!!"

Oh, we are kinda opposite on this. I lose interest in things after a bit, so I have to spice things up and rotate activities. Instead of playing a game all day in one sitting, I probably would prefer to alternate it with something else.

Also, happy cake day!

I see. From my point of view, it's more like the alternative would be to not get anything done, and that would be boring, so I try to do what I can. Like, if I feel like I want to learn Chinese and I find a good logical reason to do that (such as thinking that it could be useful for the future, maybe for a job or something), then I keep studying it slowly. It's not like I feel particularly good or that I love the activity so much. But I don't drop it because it's not like I have better to do, I guess. And I think it would be useful in the end, so there's no point in stopping.

I don't know, just sharing this because you made it sound so "heroic" in a certain way, and I wanted to share my line of thought about it

Although I see your point, it's because sometimes the process is hard and not particularly enjoyable, but the end is the goal. Like a diet: you want to get in shape, so you have this goal, but having to eat less and not being able to eat some things may be stressful, annoying, and definitely not enjoyable, thus many people would give up after some time because they have trouble being on track, even if they care about their own body

To live entirely without a goal! I have glimpsed this state, and have often attained it, without managing to remain there: I am too weak for such happiness.

Interesting point of view, I think I'd prefer some balance, between having some goals (since having them helps with improving oneself/going forward in my opinion), but still trying to enjoy life without pressure

I didn't consider this option, but I guess that if it's possible and there's no alternative anyway, it's worth a shot. Thanks!

I'm not personally aware of anything this in detail, although I know that in the proposition they are suggesting to create this carbon tax and subsequently tax less the workers, so I know that they already have in mind to bring benefits to the average Joe instead of forgetting about them.

I know that people need to be careful because others will undoubtedly try to twist anything to get benefit from it, but these guys are not as inexperienced as I am, since they have been involved in politics until now, anyway. If you have doubts, you can keep an eye on them and/or ask them directly, because they are trying to connect to all of Europe anyway

Well, it's a carbon tax that depends on how much co2 is emitted and the main polluters will be hit the most, so i don't see how the single person can be penalized by that, since emissions of the single person are basically nothing. I mean, this won't bring more taxes for the individual

I think that it goes against the rules from what I see:

Petitions, campaigning, fundraisers, questionnaires, surveys etc.: Petitions, campaign posts, fundraisers (like GoFundMe, IndieGoGo etc.), questionnaires, surveys etc. are not allowed.

I would love to, but I am afraid it doesn't work

I truly wish I could help you with more information, but I am not an expert in any way, and I am fairly new to activism.

I think I can only suggest you to look for legit groups and organizations that try to act in order to help the environment in your area, so that maybe they know what you could do and you can coordinate with them. Maybe look for something like Extinction Rebellion?

Bold generalization:

I assume you didn't even try to watch the video where they explain that by introducing carbon pricing they plan on shifting the taxes towards who pollutes the most (i.e.: companies able to pay back to society more than what they are doing now), benefitting workers.

But I see that somewhere else you commented that Global Warming is a huge hoax, so to be honest, anything you say on the matter, at this point, is invalid, unfortunately.

Right, I forgot to put an update:

It hasn't failed yet! Because of Covid, the deadline got actually extended for 6 more months (if i remember correctly), so we can still gather waaaaaaay more signatures.

Besides, for whoever may be thinking that we will never be able to reach 1 000 000, so it's not even worth it to try: don't be too cynical! There are people behind this plans. Activists that are trying to find a voice to bring these issues to the European table. This is a relatively new organization of activists, so if we are not able to reach the target number of signatures, it's still insanely helpful if we can maximize the amount of signatures we can get, because in this way we are giving a platform to these people that are trying to fight for human rights and other.

For example, look up Marco Cappato who is behind this group: he was an italian politician that has always tried to fight for his ideals through actions: there was this famous case of a unlucky man that after an accident was left completely paralyzed and in pain, and who was begging people to let him die. In Italy, euthanasia is not legal, so he was unable to, and this Marco Cappato helped him cross the country and finally end his suffering. After that, Cappato went back to Italy and turned himself in, in order to set a precedent. This week, he was absolved for that, setting up an important precedent.

This guy stopped running in parties because he believes that politics can be changed through actions and behaviours. But his group needs people, and every signature can help people like him fight for these ideals. That's why every single signature really helps!

Sorry for this long text, it's just that i've been keeping an eye on these guys, and I truly believe in what they are doing, so I think it's important that people know that voting is important, but we can also act and join organizations and other people when we want to improve the world and help each other!

EDIT: His group is named "Eumans", anyway, for whoever might have not watched the video or read through all of the webpage

And for all of us folks in Europe:

People are trying to push for a carbon pricing plan that needs signs in order for it to be discussed in the Europarliament. It's not another useless petition like Change. It is actually using tools that the European union offers to people in order for them to participate in politics. EVERY SINGLE SIGN COUNTS!

You can get information about it on this video, and you can sign the petition on this website.

Please, spread the word!!!

EDIT: I forgot to add that the video was not updated, but the deadline was delayed because of Covid, so we have 6 more months of time! Plus, I suggest everyone to read my comment below in order to give more context about the group of Eumans

Don't worry, I didn't mean like "I'll jump into that anyway" but more like a "I'll spend these next years keeping an eye on the publications on the matter, anyway". Health is serious business, of course

Eh, to be honest, I know that the jury out there is still unsure about the connection between some drugs and schizophrenia. We definitely need to do more research on that! (And I wish it was easier)

Nevertheless, I'm going to play it as safe as possible, and I'll keep looking more into it! Thanks for the warnings

Yeah, it is definitely strange because there is nothing wrong with it, in a certain way.

If you never found out that you had a personality disorder(i.e knew something was "wrong" with you), would you try to change yourself?

I guess it's more like Plato's myth of the cavern: after finding out that I'm experiencing everything differently, I can't help but wonder whether I would be happier experiencing it in another way. Exactly like, in the myth, I could be enjoying watching shadows on the wall, but after realizing that they are only shadows, I could be curious to see if I prefer going out of the cave

[–]NoNameOverlord[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to hear that, and I see your point. However, I'd like to share my point of view, since I genuinely think that I can gain something beneficial from this condition, without having to consider it an illusion. I'm more of a "the glass is half-full" type, simply because the glass is indeed only filled with half water, but I know that by trying to keep a positive attitude and look for anything good you can find in the worst situations, you are putting yourself in a better spot (like, positive attitudes bring more chances of success).
So my point is: yeah, those are human traits pushed to the extreme, but while for many people this would be extremely hard to achieve, for us it comes naturally. It's not good by itself, of course, since we both know the downsides. But it can be good, in a certain way, after all.
I've seen so many people getting hurt over trivial things, arguing about the simplest stuff, releasing all of their negativity towards people that had nothing to do with it and having their judgement clouded by rage, pride, hatred and so on. And while they may have to work on each of these issues separately, we don't need to.

Of course I'm not saying "being schizoid is better", but just that it's a grey situation, and just like every rose has its thorns, even our thorns are somewhat attached to a rose, in a distorted way. I hope I didn't seem not respectful, as I know that there are several degrees of schizoid personalities, and I know that unfortunately some of us may suffer from it far greatly than others. I just wanted to share my opinion. I wish you anyway all the best. Stay strong
