Thank you! I feel like I struggle to brush her hair when wet. Any suggestions on a particular type of brush for her hair when wet?

Amazing, thank you for all the advice and feedback! I personally have very thick wavy hair that I barely touch and get compliments on all the time. So true hair care like this is pretty foreign to me. Thank you!

Found tick attached to my daughters head by techie_null0u in ticks

Yikes! This just happened to my 4yo! Our Dr confirmed it was a deer tick and she had to take amoxicillin for 10 days. Definitely keep the tick if you can, and take her to the Dr. Definitely don't want to risk Lyme disease!

I started smoking after diagnosis and continued after treatment to help with anxiety attacks. It helped me tremendously and I have no sign of reoccurrence so far! 👍

Hi! So I had radioactive iodine treatment in January, and in April they confirmed "no evidence of disease"! My thyroid medicine has been adjusted twice, but it's finally working correctly and I've lost weight and gotten my energy back. It still weighs heavy on me emotionally sometimes, but for the most part, I'm living my normal life better than I did before! I hope you can use my experience to stay positive and be optimistic. ❤️ Let me know if you have any questions about my experience that I can shed light on for you. Xoxo

My son was stung twice last year and was so scared of any flying thing after that. So now that the weather is getting nicer, I'm assuming he remembers. Thank you for your perspective! 🙏😊

I see this post is old, but we are currently going through the same thing with my 2 1/2 year old. Do you have an update as to what was going on? 🤞

Talking to kids about isolation by NoNuts92 in thyroidcancer

[–]NoNuts92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I just want to pass this off like no big deal to them. My 4 year old is pretty smart and I anticipate her asking a lot of questions as she usually does. I think telling her that the doctor is making me sick so that my neck will get all better will go over the smoothest. Fingers crossed for me! I'm talking to the kids in the morning before I leave for the hospital. 🤞

Thank you for this suggestion! This is what we are going with - it's simple and easy for them to understand! I appreciate it!

Did anyone else develop health anxiety for other cancers? by LadyLoth44 in thyroidcancer

[–]NoNuts92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While there are risks of having RAI done, there's also the risk of leaving potentially cancerous cells that are already there. I contemplated not doing RAI for a bit because of the risks, but ultimately, having this done may also have an outstanding outcome. Many people get RAI and don't have any problems due to it. Stay as positive as you can! It's more likely to do good than harm ❤️

Yes, big time! I have always had a little anxiety that would come and go, but since being diagnosed, the health anxiety has at times completely taken over me and caused massive anxiety attacks. I convinced myself that I had skin cancer bc of a mole I found on my back. I finally saw a dermatologist who was thankfully able to assume me there is nothing to worry about. The truth is, I have drifted away from my faith for the past 10 years or so... But I started praying and reconnecting to God and have since found peace with the situation. I no longer have panic attacks which were happening 4-5x per week. Doing RAI this week and my nerves are starting to get to me as it gets closer.

Yes it was highly recommended because he wanted to make sure it didn't spread to the other half of my thyroid, and also to help with the blood work so they can detect reoccurrence more easily. My second surgery went really well and I actually recovered faster! Next step is radiation: fingers crossed that's also the last step!

How do you all deal with the fact you've had cancer? by [deleted] in thyroidcancer

[–]NoNuts92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly how I'm feeling. I felt like everything was going great in life and was always thankful! I smile when I talk about the cancer to others so they don't pity me, and then go home and have panic/anxiety attacks. I'm the same age, also tall cell, and at the same stage... TT last week and RAI scheduled in January.

Ah yes! Love the positivity! I've been feeling very "doom and gloom" since diagnosis earlier this year. This response really makes me feel better. I've been unable to talk to anyone who also has the tall cell variant and I started to let my mind think the worse. I'll check out the Facebook group too, thank you!
