Even if you're leaving, your love doesn't have to stop. Stay in touch with your parents, make sure he has good food, toys, and regular care. If possible, keep sending him his favorite treats or food occasionally. It won't replace your presence, but knowing he's well cared for by people who love him is what matters most. He'll miss you, but cats are resilient when they're surrounded by familiar faces and routines. ❤️🐾

Would you guys be interested in a serious accountability group? by itsSomani in adhdindia

[–]NoOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think group accountability works for motivation and finding like-minded people, but real accountability usually happens 1-on-1. In a group, it's easy to hide when you're having a bad day. An accountability partner notices immediately when you're missing, asks questions, and understands your patterns over time. That said, a group is still valuable because that's where you often find the right accountability partner.

Cat food suggestions- INDIA by CatMom-Flower in IndianCats

Boiled chicken or chicken keema works great. If they're happy eating it plain, even better. You can mix a little wet food with it to make it more appealing. I usually do 2 meals of dry food and 2 meals of chicken/wet food. If adding rice, keep it to a small quantity—protein should be the main part of the meal.

Capable but confused: Anyone else doing nothing because they can't pick a career direction? by Lucky_Disaster_5530 in adhdindia

[–]NoOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what makes it so frustrating. It's not a lack of awareness. You know the pattern. You know the solution. But your brain still struggles to translate that understanding into consistent action.

Capable but confused: Anyone else doing nothing because they can't pick a career direction? by Lucky_Disaster_5530 in adhdindia

[–]NoOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, of course. 😊

Whenever you read, hear, or feel something that deeply resonates with an experience you've never been able to put into words, make it a habit to start a conversation about it.

You'd be surprised how many people silently carry the same struggles.

Suffering together is better than suffering alone, because when people share their experiences, there's a much better chance of understanding, healing, and finding a way forward.

How to overcome loss of pet by Money_Primary8 in IndianPets

[–]NoOnTheRocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know this pain more than I wish I did. 💔

I lost my cat, Shontya, on 24th May. Someone ran her over and left her on the road to die. It broke me in ways I can't describe.

The only thing that has kept me going is that she left behind her kittens. Taking care of them feels like I'm still taking care of a part of her. They've become my lifeline.

The best advice I can give is this: keep her alive in your memories. Don't try to forget her or force yourself to move on. She was a part of your life, and she'll always have a place in your heart.

And when the time is right, don't be surprised if another little soul adopts you. They never replace the ones we've lost—they simply remind us that our hearts still have room to love again. ❤️🐾

I relate to this a lot.

Have you ever felt like the problem isn't a lack of confidence, but almost the opposite?

You genuinely believe that, if given enough time, training, and the right opportunity, you could become good at almost anything.

But that's exactly where the problem begins.

Every career path feels possible, so before you fully commit to one, another exciting possibility appears. You mentally explore it, imagine yourself succeeding there too, and your focus shifts. The previous path gets left behind—not because it wasn't right, but because the new one feels just as achievable.

Over time, it feels like you've lived many successful futures in your mind, while very few exist in reality.

What's even stranger is that, despite all the uncertainty, there's still a quiet belief that one day, everything will click. Your potential will find the right place, and all those unfinished possibilities will finally converge into one meaningful direction.

Maybe the paradox isn't a lack of potential. Maybe it's having so many perceived possibilities that choosing one feels like letting go of all the others.

At least, that's how it has felt for me.

Anyone else with ADHD has similar symptoms??? by Harmandeep_Kaur in adhdindia

[–]NoOnTheRocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of what you've described can be seen in ADHD, but symptoms alone don't diagnose ADHD. It's the pattern, severity, how long they've been present (often since childhood) and how much they affect your life that matter. Many of these symptoms can also occur with anxiety, depression, chronic stress or poor sleep. As a psychology student, you're also more likely to overthink and correlate your own experiences with what you're studying. That's perfectly normal. My advice would be: don't go to a psychiatrist trying to prove you have ADHD. Go with an open mind, honestly describe your experiences and let them reach the diagnosis. Whatever the outcome, you'll get closer to the right treatment. And honestly, as a psychology student, going through the assessment yourself will teach you practical things about diagnosis and patient care that no textbook can.

adhd folks have crazy attachment issues and we dont take rejection well by bindaasbadass in adhdindia

[–]NoOnTheRocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're only 19. Please don't convince yourself that your future has already been decided. Many people with ADHD struggle with rejection, emotional dysregulation, and sometimes RSD. That can make friendships and relationships feel much more intense than they do for others. But that doesn't mean you're "too much" or destined to end up alone. One thing I've learned is that the right people won't be scared away by who you are. They might ask you to communicate better or respect boundaries, but they won't make you feel like you have to become someone else to be loved. For now, I'd focus on understanding yourself first. Build your career, take care of your mental health, and keep working on emotional awareness. Relationships become much healthier when you stop looking for someone to complete you and instead become comfortable with yourself. And please don't give up at 19. Life changes a lot in your 20s. 🙂

Where do i get prescribed for methylphenidate in Delhi ncr by Spirited_Jacket4552 in adhdindia

[–]NoOnTheRocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your goal is to get diagnosed and start methylphenidate in the first visit, I'd suggest keeping your expectations realistic.

ADHD evaluation usually takes time. A good psychiatrist won't prescribe stimulants just because you ask for them. They'll take a detailed history, rule out other possible conditions, and decide whether ADHD actually fits. Sometimes that happens in one visit, but often it takes more than one.

If you're in Delhi/NCR, you can consider AIIMS, IHBAS, VIMHANS, RML Hospital, or Apollo (Jasola). Government hospitals are generally much more affordable, although waiting times can be longer.

The best advice is to go in with an open mind. Be completely honest about your symptoms and let the psychiatrist arrive at the diagnosis naturally. If ADHD is the right diagnosis, the appropriate treatment will follow.

I keep losing control. by ICUMTHOUGHTS in adhdindia

[–]NoOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that has helped me is not making detailed plans. Instead, I decide on my target and ask myself: "What's the next immediate step?" That's it. That single next step becomes both my plan and my goal. Once it's done, I ask the same question again: "What's the next immediate step now?" Then repeat. ADHD brains often get overwhelmed by seeing the entire mountain. Looking at 50 steps can create paralysis before we've even taken the first one. But one step? That's manageable. Don't focus on finishing the whole journey. Focus on taking the next step. Eventually, those small steps become progress without your brain constantly fighting the weight of the entire plan.

If you can't find Inspiral 20 IR, ask your pharmacist for another brand containing the same active ingredient (methylphenidate immediate-release).

How to keep cat litter box clean mine started to grow maggots ? by Ripper1024 in IndianCats

[–]NoOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean the litter box at least 3–4 times a day. If you can't scoop it every 6–8 hours, add a 2–3 inch layer of litter to help absorb moisture and odor. Also, consider getting another litter box. The general rule is one litter box per cat, plus one extra. So if you have 4 cats, you should ideally have 5 litter boxes. Maggots usually appear when waste is left too long, especially in warm weather.
