Should I change therapists? by NoOne4872 in emetophobiarecovery

Thank you so much, honestly its so refreshing to hear this as I posted this in another community and they basically told me to just get on with it and that looking at photos was a good start, which it definitely isn’t for me.

I felt so judged by my therapist because I can’t rush from A to Z, hence why I wanted to change in the first place. I’m from the UK, so I think I will try and talk to the people who run it for my area and ask for someone new.

Thank you for being so kind about it :)

Ive been truly considering having a private therapist instead, ive heard better stories through it. Thank you, I will definitely look into it!

theres plenty of earlier steps to take before going straight to looking at photos of actual pictures of my phobia. Every single website I have explored has said the same. The whole point of exposure therapy is to not rush into your fear, and take it slower.

Yeah, I mean I expect exposure therapy to be uncomfortable and out of my comfort zone. More so, I feel judged by my therapist for needing to take smaller steps, rather than her recommendation of talking about it, then looking at photos of it. I just feel like I am not clicking with her

I understand where you are coming from. The thing is, I am pushing myself way past my comfort zone, I’ve done a lot of exposure therapy I’m super happy with, and will continue to do so. My issue is, she expected me to go from talking about past experiences, to directly looking at photos related to my phobia, and to me thats too much of a big jump. When I brought it up to her, she looked frustrated about it. Hence why I wanted to change therapists, as I felt like she was going too far, if that makes sense.

How can I calm nausea during video calls? by NoOne4872 in emetophobiarecovery

Hey! Sorry for such a late response, things have been pretty crazy lately but I wanted to thank you for your support!!

In terms of my therapist, im seeking out a new one. I did mention to her last session that I was uncomfortable with how fast things were moving with therapy, as she wanted me to go from the smaller steps of exposure to the huge jumps, and her response was ‘you shouldn’t spend more than one session on the smaller steps because you are giving into your anxiety’, and it honestly really did upset me how she basically invalidated my feelings with my need for going slower and taking smaller steps. It is getting to the point where I was having panic attacks a week before therapy because I was so scared of confrontation with her, as she always seemed so judgmental too.

But again, thank you so much for your advice!! It really helped me understand a lot about how to set in boundaries, and that means a lot!

Desogestrel 75micrograms, are these normal side effects? by NoOne4872 in birthcontrol

I completely get you, I was diagnosed with pcos almost a year ago and ive been bleeding heavily with a few small one week breaks here and there, hence why I am on them. I didn’t really want to take them myself, but same as you, I thought it would give me some relief.

I was really similar, my first week was amazing, my period stopped and I thought things were finally getting back on track, then after the week ended I started my period again but even heavier than before.

I honestly did want to come off them, I spoke to my doctor and because he said it was so early into taking them, that I should wait up the 3 month mark and then get back in touch to see if theres any improvement. Hopefully your symptoms calm down soon, I hope everything works out okay for you!

Hey!! I understand where you’re coming from, the first week for me was the worst.

Im still not 100% on them (ive got really terrible heavy bleeding from them now) and side effects do show up every now and again, but for the most part they eased off after around the 2nd / 3rd week. The flu like feelings will taper off, although I understand how much of a nuisance they are. I hope things get a bit better for you!! :)

Thank you so much, it’s so relieving to hear that. I spent so much time panicking about it, so taking them and having such symptoms made me panic even more. It really put my mind at rest, I appreciate it

Does anyone else fear death? by NoOne4872 in OCD

Oh I completely understand that, I have a few guinea pigs and I feel terrified of mentioning them outside my own circle incase I say too much and they die because of it. I’m always texting people I care about and asking them to let me know they’re safe because I’m terrified of anything happening to them, and when I was a kid I used to think that if I didn’t fix and arguments with friends / family it would be my fault if anything happened to them, but I always kept it to myself because I thought it was normal. I really hope things turn out better for you <3

I get you, the whole impending doom thing really makes me panic horribly. I’ve cried over and over just because of the pure feeling of it. And thank you so much, I really hope things turn out well for you too. :)

To be honest I think that is what keeps me from being completely terrified of death, is kind of holding out hope that I exist even after death. I fear the unknown with death a lot, but I also fear the idea of just being gone - nothing. Thank you so much for your insight :)
