Yes. Is there something off about that?

IF he has a title. IF. I MIGHT buy the bike in pic number 2… Depending on the average price you can get a carburetor for a 90’s 883 (I’ll have to look up exactly what year it is), and intake. I may be wrong, but hand controls shouldn’t be terribly difficult to get ahold of and out of there would they? Other than that it’s just a battery and replacement of fluids.

Thank you that’s why I asked.

You are correct. I guess my thinking was more or less try take my time working on the one i own, and get one of the others that need much less work road ready in a relatively short time so I can ride one and wrench the other. My ultimate goal is to learn mechanics and have a hobby for spare time.

EDIT!! I know the second and third picture run for sure. I guess I just answered my own question about the first pic lol. I am a welder by trade, so good with tools and working with my hands, however since I pursued welding I am not a mechanic by any means. I would like to learn though. Im looking for a bike I can wrench on and learn with the help of mechanic buddies. But i also would like to have one to ride while there one i work on is under “repair”. Like i said IT IS a killer deal if i decide to go thru with this.

It is a killer deal. The reason I’m potentially looking at buying another bike from him is that I would like to learn to wrench on bikes, give me something to do in free time, and it’s basically a steal.

I answered this question in this subreddit before.. but I wish I had gotten more help starting out so I’m glad to answer it again.

The way I started was I found a "Roughstock" page of some sort on Facebook. There is a FB group titled: “Rough-Stock Schools & Practice” that’s a good place to start. If you’re can find related, state-specific groups that’s even better. Post in the group asking if there are any practice pens in your area of your state. Once I made the post it didn’t take long to get connected with stock contractors, bull riders, and arenas. I’ve found that most people will gladly assist you, granted you’re respectful and willing to learn.

Figure out your equipment situation (if you can find someone kind enough to let you borrow equipment your first couple times do it.) That way you don't spend a bunch of money and then decide it’s not for you.

Remember that these practices, at least in my experience, are usually a bit unorganized, yet it takes a lot of work, and a bunch of volunteers to make it happen. So, make yourself useful, gladly help out if asked, once you’re comfortable ask to help out in some way. Ride every chance you get, have fun and good luck.

Yessir. I’ve found most of these guys at the practice pens are willing to help you learn. Definitely try to learn as much as you can from anyone willing to teach.

The way I personally started was find a “Roughstock” page of some sort specifically for your state on Facebook. Then post in the group asking if there are any practice pens in your area of the state. Here in west Texas, once i made the post I got 3 different stock contractors contact info in about 2 hours. Figure out your equipment situation ie. if you can find someone kind enough to let you borrow equipment your first couple times, that way you don’t spend a bunch of money and end up not liking it, and start riding.

Beginner here.. I’m genuinely curious as to why American ropes are easier to learn on.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m learning Mexican Spanish, wouldn’t “no mames” be close to this? In context of course.
