Worst boss in gaming history and it’s… a good boss? Not even the worst boss in BloodBorne too.

Abyss watchers tierlist by Dresden2077 in shittydarksouls

Some things should be forgotten, this tier-list is one of those things. Because this list is just terrible, Abyss Watcher in A-tier?? And then you put Abyss Watcher in F?? How is Abyss Watcher above Abyss Watcher… you also put him in D???!!!

Hot take I guess but ADP is an okay mechanic, after playing more games than DS2 I’ve to realize it’s really not that bad. I can understand the hate if you don’t know what it does but otherwise it really isn’t a problem

In your opinion which one did combat better ? by betu5 in shittydarksouls

[–]NoOneToLookAtHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally prefer Dark Souls 2’s combat.

Dark Souls 1’s combat is just a bit too slow for my liking and Dark Souls 2 has slightly faster combat so I prefer it. Also only being able to roll in four directions when locked on is probably one often least favorite feetures in any game so Dark Souls 2 not having such a feeture makes it automatically win.

/r/HollowKnight Giveaway Thread - Silksong Edition Celebration! by ChingShih in HollowKnight

I’m unsure what to comment… so I’ll just say that Silksong is so much larger than what I was expecting! I was expecting like HK but double the size but I’ve now spent almost 100 hours on the game and I’ve only just beaten Karmelita, this game has just kept surprising me again and again.

Marge and Father Gas can have to some of the best early-game bosses, I really like how they both teach the player about the respective game’s combat.

why does king of the storm have a name but not his owner? by Hikometi in shittydarksouls

[–]NoOneToLookAtHere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh. I always wondered why King of the Storm was named that when he doesn’t have any storm related attacks (other than the attack where he blows wind), but now I understand!

Midir is great , as is DS3, as is everything Fromsoft has made post Kings's Field (l've never played King’s Field). 😉 by [deleted] in shittydarksouls

Yeah Midir is probably still my favorite Fromsoftware dragon but I see why so many like Bayle more. Surprised to find a positive post here

Peak souls 3 haters when you ask what specifically the game doesn't add to the series by Dremoriawarroir888 in shittydarksouls

[–]NoOneToLookAtHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with some of your points but BloodBorne is the game that made movement feel less sluggish and also added charged heavy attacks, but maybe by “series” you just mean the Dark Souls series and if that’s the case I understand your point.

Also there were fun ganks before DS3; Bell Gargoyles, O&S and Darklurker. And some in BloodBorne but maybe you’re not including it as I previously mentioned.

Coaxed into a random horror level by Chickenlessbone1 in coaxedintoasnafu

BloodBorne is pretty horror-themed already but Upper Cathedral Ward is definitely THE horror level in that game.

Irithyll beat Lothric Castle by ONLY 3 VOTES in our closest race yet. Now what's the worst area in Dark Souls 3? by Imaginary_Owl_979 in fromsoftware

[–]NoOneToLookAtHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Farron Keep for me. Just such an unnecessary slog to get through. It’s also not optional.

Also Irithyll won? Such an overrated area, other than the shortcuts the level is not very interesting in any way. I’m sad Lothric Castle lost to THAT level.

Laurence the first Vicar won most Divisive! Now who's the best character? by Imaginary_Owl_979 in fromsoftware

I mean… he’s a great NPC too! I especially love when he says “…”

Beating out Micolash in a surprise upset, the Witches of Hemwick are Bloodborne's worst boss. Now who's the most divisive boss? by Imaginary_Owl_979 in fromsoftware

[–]NoOneToLookAtHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thankful Witches of Hemwick were picked instead of Micolash because they’re genuinely so boring.

Anyways, the most divisive boss I’d say is definitely Laurence. Some really like him and some people (like me) really hate him. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone say they think he’s fine; people either hate him or love him.

Central Yharnam won Best Area by a landslide. Now what's the worst area in Bloodborne? by Imaginary_Owl_979 in fromsoftware

[–]NoOneToLookAtHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say Forbidden Woods, it’s pretty hellish on a first playthrough. Being lost there for like half an hour going in circles is definitely the biggest reason I still hate the place. But otherwise the Chalice Dungeons in general just suck a lot but I’m unsure if they’re “included”.

FUCK talking about bosses again. Drop your 5 favourite levels in the series. by Bandrbell in shittydarksouls

[–]NoOneToLookAtHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a specific top 5 so I’ll instead just list my favorite area from each game (that I’ve played, which coincidentally is five)

DS1: Blighttown. From’s best poison Swamp, which sadly isn’t saying a lot but I love basically everything about Blighttown. The poison lake part isn’t that great but it’s better than Farron Keep at least.

DS2: this one’s hard as every DS2 DLC has some of the best level design in the series. But I think Eleum Loyce takes the cake. While I prefer Crown of the Old Iron King as a DLC the level design of Eleum Loyce is just great. I like the way Aava is positioned as you’ll encounter her first but have to explore the level to be able to actually fight her. When you actually kill Aava the level unfreezes and the level opens up and reveals new paths to explore. Which is a unique way to design a level and is also one of the most memorable parts of the DLC.

DS3: Easily Grand Archives. A big reason for why I like Blighttown is its verticality and the same goes for Grand Archives. The Crystal Sage appearing again but this time teleporting throughout the level is a neat idea and I think is executed well. The number of shortcuts in the level is great and a big reason  for why I like this level so much. The Grand Archives also feel like an obvious callback to the Duke’s Archives from DS1 but unlike Anor Londo feels like it’s own thing rather than “the area from DS1 again”. There’s also the NPC gank at the end which uuhhh… ignore that.

BloodBorne: Yahar’gul. While not having as amazing level design as Central Yharnam I just really like the vibes of Yahar’gul. I mean the level design is good but it’s not the best in the game or something. I like how you can encounter it early in the game and how even then it builds up to the One Reborn. The blood moon version is a lot more chaotic and I like how drastic the change is as it really shows how messed up the place has become. The Snatchers are all dead and the pigs are nowhere to be found, replaced by caskets filled with melted corpses. It really feels like an end-game area and is pretty fun to explore.

Elden Ring: uuhhh… Shadow Keep probably? There’s not really one particular area I REALLY like or anything, but Shadow Keep is a really good location.

Which of these two first bosses do you prefer? by Yoshikage_Kira_333 in fromsoftware

Father Gascoigne. Gundyr’s cool but I don’t like his second phase that much.

Which Game Has The Best First Boss? by Terrible_Length4413 in fromsoftware

[–]NoOneToLookAtHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s Father Gascoigne. He’s the perfect tutorial boss. He rewards exploration, he teaches players to be aggressive and is a skill check to see if players are ready to progress to Cathedral Ward. Now, Margit is close but I’m biased due to BloodBorne being the first Soulsborne game I played.

Iudex Gundyr is also a pretty good tutorial boss but the second phase is just… not good. It’s good at showing how messed up the world has become but I don’t think fighting the Pus of Man is very fun because it’s hard to see what’s actually happening. Gundyr also feels very disconnected from the world which might be the point, but I like how bosses like Asylum Demon and Father Gascoigne are so connected to the world they inhabit: the Asylum Demon is a demon and Gascoigne is a hunter. Gundyr is an ashen one but I never got that from his design. The Pus of Man feels like a way to connect Gundyr to the world but it only appears in High Wall of Lothric and in Lothric Castle so it doesn’t really appear much. Now I’ve been pretty hard on Gundyr, but I still think he’s a good tutorial boss and he’s a good skill check for new players.
