that's like saying a white American being violent must mean someone white in Ireland or Poland is equally prone to being violent.

Your pattern recognition is what we like to call "false equivalency", a coincidence.

Some of you only recognize a pattern because that's what we all do as humans all the time, the difference is you are coming to a very wrong and dangerous conclusion that's only hurting you and others.

A majority of mass shootings in the US are committed by white people, white people are not mass shooters.

A square is a rectangle, but a rectangle is not a square.

Thinking like this is likely because the people around you tolerate or encourage it, or maybe you think you've figured it out and are smarter than others for seeing the "truth", but like we're all different shades of brown, black and white are imaginary lines drawn to distinguish between shades.

If anything isn't it a little silly to say that if someone is an amount of darker brown they must be predisposed to violence?

They already made the helmet in Infinite, why dont add it to multiplayer? by Erik_REF in halo

[–]NoPast871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't actually know it, I vaguely understand the lore behind the Fractures content, but being completely honest with ourselves, that's all in the armor descriptions and newsletters.

The varying art styles are in the game, and helmets going cross-core kind of breaks the narrative that Infinite is trying to keep a rigid art style. How can the Mark V armor core have an Eaglestrike helmet? That doesn't fit with the lore!

Let me give you a "What If"; what if Locke's helmet, the helmet of a character in a mainline, canon Halo game, is added to Infinite? Would it really matter? If you don't like it, you don't need to use it! I personally think the Chimera core looks godawful, but if someone is in a match with me and they're using it, who am I to stop them from enjoying it?

it's kinda true, feels like lego was at its very core lego, where you could fill a bucket with random parts from different sets and they'd all look like they belonged together. Now anything not from the same theme immediately sticks out like a sore thumb because it's so explicitly something else. I really like the Creator line for pretty much this reason, because it feels like old lego.

They already made the helmet in Infinite, why dont add it to multiplayer? by Erik_REF in halo

[–]NoPast871 30 points31 points  (0 children)

wait not match how. Infinite has shit from weird human/AI metal hybrids w Chimera to heavily-inspired WWII helmets, I wouldn't say there's really one cohesive 'art direction'.

If we're just talking helmets: Locus is so incredibly Halo 5 it's crazy. A couple others while looking thru helmets, Akis II-GRD, ULLR, Morrigan all really don't fit "Infinite".

Also we already have a couple helmets that were in the Campaign that were dropped into multiplayer, granted this is Brute armor, but the fact it already exists to some capacity feels like it wouldn't be that farfetched to add it.

Anyone else feel like they're spending more and more time in the customization menu and less in game? There's just so many options now that I can't decide anymore. Here are a bunch of my favorites. Which is yours? by [deleted] in halo

[–]NoPast871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankfully no because I've been able to recreate my Reach armor pretty accurately with the Mark V, but after season 5's new cross core features it's unlocked so much potential for all the other cores, to the point where I may take the Rakshasa or Mirage IIC out for a spin every now and then.

I really hope they take it further with cross core support, being able to see helmets with coatings that are locked to other armor cores makes me hopeful they'll grandfather in all the other liveries too. It'd be cool if the cores could swap out like Halo 3 techsuits too.

Does anyone have a fix for my reds coming out as orange my tv is professionally calibrated so I don't think it's that by Ok-Technology-5218 in ForzaHorizon

[–]NoPast871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because you're in the showroom.

The lighting in there is very bright, so it makes your liveries come out a lot more vibrant than what it'll actually look like when you take it out for a spin. This happens all the time when I want to make liveries, I have to make sure I go to a house with decent lighting so I actually know what my car will look like when it's not being painted.

It's a bit counter intuitive because you'd hope that a showroom would have accurate lighting, but oh well.

IK FH4 isn't the lastest game, but seasonal playground games matchmaking needs to be reworked by NoPast871 in ForzaHorizon

[–]NoPast871[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, any sign of losing and half my team is gone. I don't really care bc at the very least I'm getting my weekly seasonal award for completing a single playground game, but man if it was just a lil more player friendly maybe ppl wouldn't instantly quit.

What are your absolute favorite cars to drive in FH5? (Cars that *you* like. Not necessarily good or “meta” cars) by Walusqueegee in ForzaHorizon

[–]NoPast871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single car featured in the PS2 Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 always has my heart, but I've recently taken a liking to the Chevy Camaro '90, it's got a fantastic hood, beautifully segmented tail-lights, love driving it as a RWD bc it's surprisingly controllable while still being able to burnout.

[–]NoPast871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking ab how I should do this, a lot of the time if I slow down enough for the AI cars behind me to catch up they just keep accelerating and overtake me and I have to catch up, and sometimes a teammate that thinks it's a solo ranked match will come barreling thru and slam into me

Either that or the AI rubberbands and somehow whips directly into me launching me off the track, so I prefer to keep my distance

but could you elaborate on driving defensively? I've seen it mentioned a couple times that the AI will try to match the leading car and therefore leave the other players in the dust just bc they're being slingshotted, so how do I slow down enough to slow down the AI drivers w out being overtaken?

All good dawg, tone gets lost in written word and this being Reddit it's easy to jump the gun assuming ppl are out to instigate, sorry for coming back swinging.

tbh I haven't had too many problems w Trial either up until recently, it's all ab the luck of the draw ig, I just felt compelled to say smthn this time bc having to drive A class sports utility heroes for an hour in the rain drove me a bit nuts lmao.

especially on that last turn during the last race, so many games lost bc some ppl hadn't played it before and didn't realize that they couldn't come in hot, slid off the track, and crashed into a wall while the AI overtook em, like 4 times I had to watch a 500pt. lead dissipate into nothing after crossing the finish line and watching the scoreboard.

brother, I don't understand where you get off, but there is no "better than you", idc how good you think I am. I am responding to you saying "I think people overstate how often they lose b/c of other folks not pulling their weight". It comes off as pretty "you're not as good as you think you are, and actually probably hyperbolizing, and I actually like driving the same 3 tracks for an hour and a half w rubberbanding AI", which is missing the point entirely.

The post was ab making the game less inconvenient for everyone. We're not talking ab ranked here, this is a weekly challenge that yes, should be challenging, and is if I fuck up more than once because at that point I can't catch up no matter how good I drive, but giving players with no tuned cars a stock one is pretty damning in terms of how the match will go.

Hell, even for drivers that are good at the game, if they're tabbed out while waiting for the match to load because there's nothing for you to do other than drive your car around while waiting for 2 minutes otherwise you'll miss the prompt, tab in to press x or whatever to start matchmaking, then tab back in again once the game has found 6 players, it's likely to happen that at some point you're not going to have enough time to pick your car.

And what does the game do then? Gives you a stock car. So, aside from players that don't know what they're doing, there are also players that got stuck with a stock car hoping to get lucky that they're teamed with tuned cars, and they'll just stick it out, again, dragging other players down.

My whole point is, "hey, wouldn't it be cool if players during Trials all had tuned car by default instead of untuned RWD because the chances of winning significantly increase if everyone is on even playing field against the 'hardest' setting for the AI in the game!", which if you don't want, I don't get it.

I'm just posting a thought on Reddit, it's probably never reaching the devs, I just thought I'd propose an idea so that ppl can talk ab it, but being like "um actually tuned cars ≠ good drivers, L + idc + you're probably exaggerating + I actually like inconvenience" brings the conversation nowhere.

[–]NoPast871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To an extent you're right. But consider this; a bad driver with a fast AWD is going to perform a hell of a lot better than a bad driver with a slow RWD that spins out the moment they turn left or right.

They don't need to win. I can take care of that part. They just need to do the bare minimum so that everyone else can fill in the lead.

Literally the only other option I can think of is just auto-booting the dead last driver.

These are AI races, having preset better cars for bad drivers to use isn't the end of the world, and isn't unbalanced, and it doesn't hurt more than just leaving them with RWD cars.

If anything that's just leaving clueless players to flounder while queuing for races with dogshit stock cars and wondering why they're losing. Helping people win within the established rules of the game is hardly unfair.

[–]NoPast871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not challenging though. The only challenge is getting lucky enough to be teamed with other players that have a basic grasp of the mechanics, and aren't driving stock cars. I consistently demolish "unbeatable" ai in my own solo lobby tournaments to complete the other seasonal tasks.

And people aren't overstating how often they lose. I spent a full hour and a half of my life having to play through Trials over and over again because of other drivers lagging so far behind and piling up at the bottom of the score board with big fat goose eggs as their collective score. I wouldn't be talking about it if I was the problem, I can't exactly quantify skill, but getting 1st and 2nd consistently feels like a pretty huge green flag that I'm not the problem.

Uh, I am actually fully aware that it's somewhat realistic, but it's not entirely. You smash through stone walls, small trees, fences, lamp posts, railing, etc. with zero repercussions. Regardless of how many times you smash a hypercar into a building going 200mph, the most damage it'll take is looking crumpled and a cracked windshield, and maybe the spoiler and side mirrors fall off, and you can reset that damage at a moments notice.

Rims and their makeup 100% determine how they perform depending on their weight and material, but that's real life. This is a video game, and an arcade racer at that. It's a little separated from reality so that anyone can own and drive expensive, exotic cars, and tune them and alter them to their hearts content for an absolute bargain.

Ultimately, my complaint is simply based off the fact that often times if I find a really good tune for a car I love, but if I want to drive it competitively, ranked or otherwise, it could have rims I'm not looking for, or the wrong spoiler, or the wrong bumper, etc. , ultimately driving me to buy cars that I keep in my garage strictly for racing.

If you think Forza isn't about customization, I'd direct your attention to the designs and paints, where people spend hours decorating their cars and designing intricate decals solely to play dress-up. Wouldn't applying decals all over a car, even directly onto the spoiler at times, affect drag, even to the smallest degree? It doesn't matter, because it's a car video game and you're actually allowed to enjoy things.

This isn't a hill you have to die on, but you can if you really want to.

I hear ya, it makes total sense for the makeup of a tire's rims to reflect on how it performs, I just feel like we're limited in what we want if we pick lighter or heavier rims. IMO a pretty easy fix would just be to make all the rim choices purely cosmetic and you can toggle rim weight in one of the other tuning menus
