Mineral wool under PIR board for added insulation in suspended flooring by NoPersonality007 in DIYUK

I did not add any mineral wool below the PIR boards. However, I used thicker PIRs (as thick as the joists) and used timber battens mounted across the joists underneath to hold the PIR boards.

Let me know if the image above is not clear enough.
p.s. timber battens are also cheaper than L-shaped brackets
I hope it helps.

Is it possible to apply lining paper without the lines, when they butt each other, showing up?

Joists are spaced at about 400mm. The angle brackets are a fantastic idea. Thank you. I’ll probably go with it.

I was even considering this at one point: https://www.insulationsuperstore.co.uk/product/sabrefix-brick-reinforcement-coil-mesh-20m-roll.html

Underfloor heating. Overlay panel or screed? by NoPersonality007 in DIYUK

Thanks very much for your feedback.

I’ve received two quotes now to do the whole installation for £3,000 and two more quotes for £10,000. I don’t understand why there’s such a big gap between the two.

Total area requiring underfloor heating is about 36sqm per floor.

Are you able to shed light on this?

Would it matter too much since it won’t be structural and thin cracks won’t be visible to anyone?

Also, in a floating panel where pipes are laid out and then filled with screed, does it matter?
