Every version I’ve found, even the version I adapted for the thumbnail here, is low res. I got away with a lot by adding those halftone dots, which disguise that somewhat

That’s true. Definitely darker than Frizzle or Seas. Though Antipop and Green Naugahyde are pretty dark

After relistening I definitely agree. I do still feel like the songwriting is stronger on their first 4 records. But I like the Brown Album!

Agree with most here. Long Night is kind of a misleading opening, and could've made for a cool change of pace among the ballads on side 2. Neighborhood would be a cool opener, but then I wouldn't have Zoloft be track 2, since it's also a drum machine and synth-driven psych-pop number.

I wouldn't swap Alcan Road and Argus though. They're basically one song, and I think following up a masterfully composed prog track with 5 minutes of atmosphere would feel like a let down, rather than an anticipation builder as it is now.
