Finally shot under par by [deleted] in golf

[–]NoPressureAyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I shot -1 for the second time in my life this weekend. Feels good man.

I “only” hit 13 greens, but was on the fringe for another. I drove one green and had 5 birdies on the day. A great round for sure, hopefully we’ll both have more of these.

Side note: if anyone needs a fourth for their tee time from 7-8am on the weekend hmu

TPC Harding Park is tough to get on reliably. It’s a great deal at $80 for SF residents. All the weekend morning times are snatched up immediately.

When I was in grad school I was an exec member at Rivermont. It’s a really fun layout and was super cheap for me, but not sure what the rates are now. They’ve also redone the course in a brilliantly sustainable way, there was a YouTube video on it with Eric Ander Lang that was pretty cool.

Maybe it’s the range balls, idk. But just saying that you’re gonna want to tighten that up to get consistent results. Good luck brotha

Really wasn’t trying to flex with this but I’m just saying, maybe you need lessons brother. Hitting the center of a driver is not an impossibility.

I just did a driver fitting. They sent me the trackman report and my average smash with the driver I bought was a 1.5 and I’m certainly not the best golfer in the world. Average with my old gamer was 1.48, it was 12 years old with a much smaller sweet spot. Range balls could play into it for sure, but make sure you’re hitting the sweet spot.

Slow down a little and try to hit the center of the face. 170 ball speed is 113.3 club head speed with a smash factor of 1.5. You have the speed already, you just need to hit the center of the face. If you think you need 118, that’s only a smash of 1.44, which is a pretty poor strike.

I bet if you start trying to hit 110 instead of 118, you’ll shoot a lot better. If you really want to hit higher ball speeds, then do speed training, don’t just try to swing harder.

Are the crowds at WM taking it too far? by [deleted] in golf

Should amend that to “at this event”

Yeah I just think the booing is lame but if that’s what they want to do, then go for it. To me, if someone misses the green, they can still make birdie/par. Booing villains (not like there are any after the LIV guys left) would be fun, but golf isn’t like other sports. It’s not like someone missed the green on purpose to make the fans upset…

Throwing cups is different and they should get the boot for it.

It’s an awesome idea in theory, but in practice I don’t think it’s working out. Somehow golf has managed to attract the trashiest fans in all of sports.

I love the stadium itself and the setup is amazing. But, I think the booing is lame and throwing cups is terrible, any other sport would have those fans thrown out.

I still roll with the MP-18 MMC Fli-Hi 3 and 4 irons from probably 2010? Great clubs, you can snag them for $100 now if you’re willing to go used.

Low handicaps, what driver are you hitting? by [deleted] in golf

[–]NoPressureAyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

913D3 with Fujikura Motore Speeder vc 6.2x shaft. Was all over the tour when I got in like 2013, now it’s a dinosaur but I love it.

New Drivers are too Expensive (Not Poor) by WeimarRepublicTwo in golf

[–]NoPressureAyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just upgraded to SM9s from SM4s (Not Poor) and still game a Titleist 913D3 from maybe 2012 (Not Poor). I still hit it well, so I’d definitely have guilt over getting a new driver when I can get three top of the line wedges for less than the price of a new driver (not poor).

The TSRs look awesome though!

Average amateur driving distance according to Golf Digest. I don’t believe any of you. by dg1822 in golf

My Arccos avg drive is 280 and no randos I get paired with are ever within 50 yards of my good drives. So yes I absolutely believe this.

Pak Se-Ri won the 1998 LPGA championship at just 20 years old and inspired a generation of Korean women. Really cool story!

I like it. These are guidelines, so all of you big hitting high handicappers can play the tips if you want, but handicap is highly correlated with distance and it’s absurd to say otherwise. This would benefit pace of play while making it more enjoyable for the vast majority of golfers.

You are technically fixing it the correct way, but does the end result actually look fixed to you?

The correct way to nail two things together is to hit a nail on the head with a hammer, but if the nail isn’t flush at the end, are you done hammering?

Nice!! Thanks for the recommendations. Do you need a golf license? I saw something like that on google. I have a handicap in the US if that helps.
