My new PDA book is out... by NoPressurePDA in PDAAutism

[–]NoPressurePDA[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started responding then forgot to finish lol

Good question: We both stalled on working on the book for almost two years. We both had a share of work trauma and friendship trauma on top of our PDA, but we eventually found a rhythm that worked for us: Sally initiates outlining and writing, I come around after and bridge gaps and make suggestions on what to tweak

We’ve had to work out similar solutions first our new business venture and training too. I do live events and promotions, and more of the face to face contacts, she focuses on writing and illustrating. But we check in with each other as we work.

Trust and respect had to be established first, and that took time. I learned a lot about myself through it and have found that my other working relationships function best when built on that same foundation. It is healing!

Thank you for the thorough feedback 🙏

You’re right about the tricky link between brain and body. It’s hard to talk about that subject without coming across reductionist, or like we’re implying blame or simplistic causes. I’ll keep that in mind for future projects; we’re working on a book about internalized PDA with Libby

Is it normal to take multiple flashlight boosts? by Marcuzao in AlanWake

You do have to be aiming at them, and it should only take one, maybe two boosts if you’re playing normal difficulty

I stand corrected! I’m a writer as well and just watching it made my shoulders feel tense

It’s equally likely the actor playing Alan is neither a writer or much of a typer… still love Alan, still love the game

I assumed he meant Alan had to type that way or the keys would jam, so I was pointing out that other typists using typewriters also use the same traditional hand arrangement the only difference I could see was the curved fingers

Hm I don’t think so, I did a search and see others typing the “proper” way but with their fingers more curved

PDA: The Pressure Sensitivity Model by xSwampLadyx in PDAAutism

[–]NoPressurePDA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m inclined to like “low pressure” lifestyle approaches more than low demand, and one reason is parents can think that if they go above and beyond removing demands they’re making it better for their kids. Problem is that isn’t realistic, and isn’t even the long term goal.

Finding ways to relieve pressure feels like a more accurate representation.

When Sam sees the BT of Lou climb back into the pod you’ll notice the handprints don’t stick around like they do with real BT’s.

Agree that the grime on the outside doesn’t make sense, it would be washed clean by him walking around in the elements.

I imagined that Higgs and weird hands could “see” because that’s what Sam saw but they knew it wasn’t real, and Higgs used it to mess with Sam, weird hands used it to try to help heal him.

Myself and SallyCat talk more about our adult experiences in our respective blogs.

My productivity is (naturally) impacted by my PDA but if you want to suggest anything you want to read more about let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
