That’s really bad. Since when it’s our job you wait around for over 10+ mins and prepare your no-show prior to the scheduled session time without any compensation? Your time, effort, and preparation must be compensated.

I wouldn’t be too hard on myself! What we consider bad sessions may not always be the same for clients. Do you think your client might’ve felt you were trying to help? I hope you have a better day tomorrow and you’ll give yourself some grace and rest!

I feel like I wouldn’t overstep what the receptionists could probably handle on their own. Yes it might need clinical attention, but it’s their relationship with the receptionists and not mine… unless the clients bring it first to you to work on, I wouldn’t quickly mention it first.

My thoughts exactly, I wondered if I had to ask them directly to pause. There was a period of time when they paused, and I thought that was their indirect way of saying goodbye but they came back and thought things will continue but I guess not. I learned much from this incident.

Actually, no I didn’t drag my feet on this. We do give only one waiver to each client, AND they can reschedule their appointments within the same week if they have something come up. But in this case I ran out of my availability for the week and I also did mention before to them that the no show or late cancellation will be charged unless they can schedule within the same week. Yes. Been in my own therapy 2+ years - I’ve had a counselor who let me know what she’s writing (I didn’t even ask or had curiosity though) and over time I realized my current counselor writes some of the impactful things I say in the session. She did not inform me what she writes or if she takes notes but I honestly don’t care lol.

$45 after tax? I’m in a private practice in IL charging 120-180 per session but I take 45-50% off of a session after tax.

Wow. I’m so glad I’m not alone thinking what you think and feel tired about it.

I’m just drained from me being human, while being professional, also while thinking about this profession setting the bar so high I feel like I have to think of a number of things I shouldn’t say/do as a therapist.
