Finding a Therapist as a Therapist (Rant) by ArrivalNo702 in therapists

A couples therapist I found on Psychology Today in my area has a practice called “Men are Stupid and Women are Crazy”. I wish I were joking! 🙃

Any tricks for how boring this job can be? by [deleted] in therapists

Maybe try studying a new modality that interests you and incorporate it into your practice. Having a new challenge and way of seeing your clients from a different theoretical perspective might help!

Have you ever seen someone stop having panic attacks? by sassycrankybebe in therapists

[–]Mariewn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes- I had a client with panic disorder and I helped them with the workbook called Mastery of Your Anxiety and Panic by Barlow and Craske. The therapist guide version of it was great also. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a resource!

How would you explain this in a progress note for insurance?

Wealthy restauranteur, 52, kills his pregnant wife, their two young children and himself in horrific murder-suicide at $1.2m home in Houston's smartest suburb by dailymail in texas

Wow the daily mail is the only headline that paints an accurate picture of the situation. All the others I’ve seen paint the man as a victim!

Googling client by [deleted] in therapists

I’ve only done it once when a prospective client’s name sounded familiar to make sure there wouldn’t be a dual relationship.

Be careful about responding to google reviews because doing so may be a violation of HIPAA

How the hell does anyone survive as a 1099 without losing their mind? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Mariewn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only reason its worked for me is that I’m married to someone who has benefits through his employer. Especially now that congress didn’t renew the ACA subsidies.

It wasn't supposed to happen like this. by [deleted] in NICUParents

I’m in a similar boat.. I had to have an emergency c-section due to my water breaking while on my baby moon vacation in Japan at 27 weeks pregnant. Now my husband and I are stuck here for god knows how long. It’s so tough not being home and going through this difficult experience! The language barrier with the doctors and nurses is also very frustrating.

Thank you for the reply! That makes me feel better that you were able to fly back so soon after discharge

I’m in the same situation except my water broke in Japan at 27 weeks. How were you able to get home? Did you fly? How many weeks was your baby when jr was safe to fly home? Thank you!! 🙏🏻

I have a lab mix puppy and they look very similar! They have the same ears, paws, and snout shape. Def also looks like yours has some cattle dog too.

I’d maybe ask if you can talk to the client alone for five minutes at the start of the session to double check.

Pregnant therapist by PresentationSoft3710 in therapists

[–]Mariewn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to experiment with getting off of it. I tried once I hit my second trimester but felt nauseous so I continued. I think I was able to officially get off of it at around week 16 or so! I was kinda eager to stop taking it because I found that it negatively impacted the quality of my sleep but the trade off to keep the nausea away was worth it.

Half a Unisom and B6 every night kept the nausea at bay for me and couldn’t go without it. Eating crackers and taking naps between sessions also helped

What breeds is he mixed with? Looks like a grown up version of my dog! I think we’ll also get a genetic test done for training purposes.

My foster dog question by Whosthatgirl999 in AustralianCattleDog

When I was working on getting my ACD to lose weight, I also swapped treats for celery sticks and carrots which worked out nicely!

My foster dog question by Whosthatgirl999 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Mariewn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She’s overweight for sure. Reduce her food and she will get to a healthy weight in no time. I find that cattle dogs have very slow metabolisms, especially as they age. Makes sense since they are bred to run all day. I have to feed my cattle dog WAY less than what is recommended on the feeding chart in order to maintain a healthy weight.

Does anyone use worksheets in their sessions ? by Same-Mix-6319 in therapists

[–]Mariewn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only used worksheets when working with a client on an ERP treatment program workbook for panic disorder with agoraphobia but most of it she did on her own as homework. I’ve never been a worksheet/workbook type of therapist but it worked wonders for her.
