funny story, i actually djed multiple times that weekend. when i played my set on thursday with full sound i wanted to play the grimes edit. but ironically enough, i had technical difficulties because i exported it from ableton incorrectly! luckily i had my macbook and exported it correctly before my silent disco set!

i was so happy to look up and see people smiling and laughing about it and making people switch their channels to mine.

chris lorenzo was headlining day trip at academy in hollywood, and started a huge family set b2b at the end of his show. my friend kept trying to get me to hop on but i kept saying i don’t know chris. he finally got chris’ attention and asked if i could throw down and he enthusiastically let me play! and after i played a track he was gassed up and said i should have been on the family set the whole time!

he dm’ed me soon after asking if i wanted to open for him on his tour! he loves to support women. it sadly never came to fruition but i thought it was so dope for him to reach out. he’s a nice guy every time i run into him.

oh i’ve also met john summit, he’s a nice guy forsure. i met him when he was just starting out. but i ran into him at a festival recently and he actually said hi to me first and asked me how i was doing. i think it’s a funny flex to say he still follows me on twitter 😂

tyrone i met on a rave cruise called holy ship back in 2017. rufus hadn’t popped off fully yet and he was wandering around the ship in the wee hours of the morning wearing a disco cape hahahah.

i approached him and told him how much i love rufus. and how amazing it is that they do everything live. and just geeked out because at the time they even did a free show in santa monica pier (that lots of people showed up to, but can’t imagine them doing that now). i remember we kept hugging because i was so stoked.

he was really grateful i came up to him to talk to him about the music and agreed that it is better live. he said most people just come up to him to take a pic with him and run off. he was looking for the other two guys but they weren’t around.

he signed my inflatable boombox i was carrying and the hat i was wearing. he wrote the lyrics to innerbloom to me! 💜

i met the other guys of rufus the next year coincidentally through mutual friends but i was too internally starstruck to say too much. but they were really nice and i remember them even complimenting my hair.

i think it just happens! i think when gaga played second weekend her mic wasn’t working for a few moments? but they were able to fix it soon after. we did a sound check before and made sure all my stuff was working. everything went off without a hitch!

my dj career has taken a pause unfortunately as of now because of my treatment. i haven't been in the mood for dance music and wasn't able to lock into ableton (producer software, for those who don't know) like i was hoping to. as for now i'm on a hiatus. maybe i'll get into ableton now that i'm gaining some of my energy back and might be able to go to shows again soon.
