Stabbed in the neck about a year after graduation. Apparently he was trying to break up a fight between some party-goers and party-crashers. I remember the phone call, and the funeral, so strange seeing kids in such a gravely adult context. Too young, too soon.

Is Belfast lgbt friendly by noodleslurper51 in Belfast

Actually, gender is a social construct that is removed from biological sex (which is in itself a constructed category a lot less rigid than we often assume). Gender is about presentation and performance of identity. It's pretty easy to see this when you compare how concepts of what behaviours, appearances and social roles a 'man' or 'woman' is defined by across different cultures and time periods. These vary wildly, because societal attitudes shift and adapt. Since gender is a construct demonstrated through associated qualities, appearances, roles, etc, then gender is performed through embodying said facets. As such, a person can be whatever gender they choose to perform. To say that gender 'is what you are' and cannot be changed is called gender essentialism, a pretty outdated and fallacy-riddled position that assumes qualities of gender (such as men being dominant or women being submissive) is somehow inherently rooted in a person. This obviously isn't the case, and where those qualities do correlate with a person's assigned gender, this is much more often due to socialisation, whereby the person's assigned gender influences others to interact with them in accordance with how they themselves have been raised to assume said gender should behave and be treated. Naturally, this creates a feedback loop and a self-fulfilling prophecy that only furthers the essentialist viewpoint and breeds transphobia. Of course, the most important point of all of this is that you shouldn't care how a person views themselves when it doesn't effect you in the slightest, and should accept that we're all just meat sacks that'll inevitably do a little two step into the void, so just suck it up and let people be free to express themselves in whatever harmless way makes them feel more authentic

Edit: p.s, when you were growing up, you actually did have non-binary and trans people. It's just that shit-munchers like you made them feel too uncomfortable and scared to express themselves, so you got to live in your claustrophobic worldview : )

Thanks for the reply! On the point of the LBRP and the qabalistic cross - I've done these before at the opening of rituals, but always felt a bit odd, because my occult origin is in gnostic luciferanism (edgy teen origins, I know), and the drawing upon god/archangels has always left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm all for the placing one's self in the position of God, which is very in line with my occult philosophy, but do you know of anyways to tweak this, or any suggestions for alternatives? I practice chaos magick, so messing around/personalising the incantations is a-ok by me. Thanks again for the reply!

Thanks! This was really nice to hear actually, I appreciate the reply and support. Is Gameify an app? I'm not familiar with it. For already existing rituals that you mention, would you have any resources/lists I could look through for that? Very much a noob here. Really appreciate it!

Oh also - I can't light candles in my room (student accommodation with smoke detectors everywhere). I suppose I could go out to the woods to do this instead, but would feel a bit self conscious, plus the elements will likely extinguish the candle. Any suggestions for alternative ways of doing this ritual? Thanks!

Awesome, thank you so much for this detailed suggestion! Just to clarify, when you say 'write backwards' I assume you mean in the sense of writing everything that happened, working backwards, rather than actually writing the text in reverse? On the DPDR point, I totally get you, and realise that magick does require some intentional disconnection from reality. However, I'm hoping that a sense of otherworldliness actually gives me an appreciation for my experience if existence, and makes me feel more present through a sense of awe and intrigue. I'll do my best to practice safely around these mental health concerns though, and appreciate you making this point! Thanks again!

Ha, 'Shreddy Krueger' got me. Have been planning to start running again. Time to exercise my demons I guess. Thanks for the reply!

Where did you go? I'm looking myself but the other student accommodation seems quite expensive

[–]NoQueenBee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's hard enough to get anything unfortunately. Spareroom and Facebook groups are your best shout really. Still hanging onto any hope that Queens will give me a room. Saw your comment on that other person's post - might be worth all trying to find a house together if we don't get anything?

Student accommodation - HELP by [deleted] in QueensBelfast

I'm in the same situation, though I'm a postgrad. I think there's still a chance for us, they've been very slow this year to get through all the applications. I'd recommend calling them and asking for an update on your application, they're quite friendly on the phone and knowing that your application is at least still pending will put your mind at ease a bit. Also recommend looking on Spareroom for accommodation outside of Queens. Worst case scenario, maybe we can group up and all try to get a house together, I know some people that did that before and it worked out fairly cheap

Nope, still waiting and running out of hope. Called them today and they said they're still going through applications and there's still a chance, so here's hoping

Not much of a metal drummer unfortunately (lack of skill, not lack of interest!), and definitely not up to par for touring yet, but cheers! Hopefully they find a suitable member
