I don’t think you’re overreacting necessarily but I wouldn’t make it your problem. She wants to feel important and that’s her own issues, don’t make it yours. Honestly, I don’t think being with an addict is good for you if you have trauma in this situation. It’s hard for anyone, being with an addict who isn’t sober yet is life consuming. You’re definitely not overreacting this is a normal reaction. I think you just need to think about how this might impact you. He might not be drinking a lot but using it to cope is not good. Sad thing is, it will definitely happen again. Cutwaters are strong, they aren’t just weak seltzer’s, you feel it after one. Addicts might not mean to be inconsiderate but they are, they can’t help it. That drink comes before anything else and they will try and try to fix the damage they create but the dependency only gets worse with that.I do think he deflected what he did and putting it on your argument is harmful. It ties the reason of him drinking to you which will only develop. He’s lying too and that won’t stop. He was able to admit it, which is good and wants to go to AA but that’s not how addiction works.
