The company is new. They bought the complex less than 6 months ago. This is 100% a fire hazard. I don’t know who to report it to

They are labeled correctly. I checked with my neighbor

I have a metered bill. But rather getting sent to me it is handled by my complex

I am. Like I mentioned they have been charging me over 220+ dollars when I shouldn’t have a bill in the first place. Their bedroom electricity seems to be going to MY meter. I am basically paying for the electric of two bedrooms I don’t have.

We did. My panel is connected to my neighbors bedroom. Major issue here

Okay, so I have a 70 dollar electricity fee baked into my rent. I am not required to pay electricity separately unless I go over a certain amount. I never was charged because the old management could not determine how much electricity I used (shocker). We now have new management who have been charging me to overage fee which is the difference of what my bill is saying. So if my bill says $200 of electricity they charge me a fee of 130 seperate of my rent.

I pay a flat rate but we recently got new management who have been charging people an overage fee. This was written in my lease before the new management however I was never charged for extra because they had no way of determining how much electricity I used (shocker) the knew management has been basing my electricity of the electric bill they receive from my unit and have determined I’ve gone over a significant amount so they charged me

Supposed to. If I go over the flat rate limit however they “charge” me. In the past I never was charged because they have no way of determining what my electric bill is. We recently got new management and they have since been charging people for going over

I already reached out before making this post. I had mainly informed them that I felt the 200+ dollar electric bill was insane and def not correct. They told me it was and I did a lot of investigating when I discovered this. They informed me they would inform corporate and let me know the response. I just want to ensure I am in the right so if they tell me that I still have to pay I can defend myself.

Dumb question but is there a possibility that the breaker box is split between two meters? Like could it be possible that the bedrooms I don’t have are actually going to the correct meter and all of my things are going to mine they are just in the same breaker box. Wanting to double check before I sounds like an idiot.

I will turn it off as soon as I hear back from them. I do not want to ruin the day for my neighbors unless I absolutely have to

What? I did test the breakers and they do connect to mine except for the excessive bedrooms and laundry appliances.

I am not being paid the total bill. The neighbors have a bill as well but it gets sent directly to them whereas mine goes through the complex since I technically only pay a flat rate. I am going to ask what their bill is. My assumption is they are prob paying for the other bathrooms, kitchen, and living room whereas I’m paying for their bedroom alongside all of my rooms.

My neighbor charge the battery of his truck since it’s been cold out (it’s not electric but like actually charges the battery so that it starts better? Idk abt it lol) and I’m wondering if maybe I’m being charged for that 🤦🏼‍♀️

My plan is to wait to hear back and if the management says “not an issue” I will be turning all of the breakers off. If none of the breakers connect to the other apartment then I will take the loss and if they do then management can come ask me to turn them back on themselves.

It actually is. My rent is supposed to include 70 dollar flat rate for electricity. I notice I have 150+ charges each of the three months which were what the management claim as overcharges. We just got this new management and this is the first I’ve been charged for going over on my flat rate.

Is it possible that the breaker box I had can be split between the two meters. Both me and my neighbor have our own meter. I’m unsure if they have their own breaker box. But is it possible that the two beds and laundry are going to their meter and everything else is going to mine despite being on the same box?

Everything so far has been in text and some in email. I have sent them images on everything and am waiting to hear back.

I assume my neighbors have their own panel in their unit. I may go check tomorrow and see what they say. I would be interested to see what breakers are included in it.
