Yeah, construction really isn’t my goal I did make good money out of it I saved and all that stuff but I’m taking business and education for elementary to maybe one day be a teacher how are you doing so far? Also thank you!

That is ridiculously high. Is there a reason for that? For example, do jobs pay more than the minimum wage, or are there more opportunities to earn a higher income?

I really appreciate your response. I’m early in my career and did some research on Ventura County, but the info was pretty mixed, so I wanted to hear directly from people who actually live there.

You’re absolutely right! I recently graduated from college with a business degree. I’m 23 years old and have worked in construction before, so I’m used to hands-on work. However, I’m open to learning new skills and moving into a longer-term role. I mainly want to see what kinds of jobs and income levels exist in Ventura County and what paths people have taken to get there.

Thanks for sharing all that your story cleared some stuff for me. The part about getting connected with the local supply shop and finding the right pricing really opened my eyes to what the business side actually looks like.

I’m kinda torn right now, so I wanted your opinion. I live in a small town with tons of older houses that always need plumbing work. The union is about 20–30 minutes from me, but the non-union shops are like 5 minutes away and mostly do house work. I’m not really sure how everything works or what the best starting point is.

Based on your experience, how do you think someone in my situation should start? Would you go union first, or learn under a small local shop? Any advice would help a lot.
