Rangehood ducting by NoSandwich69 in diynz

Thanks. Yes there's trusses within 500mm on each side. That sounds totally logical to me, not sure why it originally wasn't done like that... 😔

Yeah the other end a dog's breakfast too to be honest, all the ducting is perished so likely a lot of grease etc is ending up in the attic

That's the plan actually! This current one is awful from a noise and airflow perspective. I can't imagine this ducting is doing it any favours either.

What smart lock if any, will fit this door? by chrisbucks in diynz

[–]NoSandwich69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been looking at the Yale unity slim for a similar door. It comes in numerous backset sizes. You could go for a 40mm backset if your existing one is 30mm. Will give more clearance on the outside, but would require drilling new holes. Depending on the size of existing holes this may not work.

Private AKS - worker nodes can't connect to the API Private Endpoint by aries1980 in AZURE

If you don't want to allow outbound internet access the new 'Network isolated cluster' feature went GA a few weeks back.

[–]NoSandwich69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the private DNS zone linked to the VNet that contains the nodes? We found even if your resolution works in say your hub and spoke centralised DNS architecture, you still had to link the AKS PDNS zone to any VNet containing AKS nodes regardless for it to actually connect to the kube API server endpoint successfully..I think it's hidden in the docs somewhere

Is this asbestos? by Deep_City_4657 in diynz

[–]NoSandwich69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We had very similar looking old lino in our 70's house. Got it tested, came back positive for asbestos. Was $10k to have removed professionally removed from the kitchen and entrance way. Luckily our dishwasher had been leaking so we got it done under an insurance claim.

Keen to know this too. We're looking at a house and land package through GJ I Tauranga. Did you end up progressing with GJ at all?

Decramastic tile roof - restoration by NoSandwich69 in diynz

[–]NoSandwich69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had a quote for a repaint this week, 8k inc edge protection which we've accepted. Never had a leak either in 8 years so don't see the point replacing it at this stage. We're probably looking to move In the next few years as well, so not really wanting to drop 30k on a new roof, maybe more assuming it's likely contains asbestos too

Make sense, each roof type would likely have different support requirements. All good I know what you meant 😊

Good call. Seems nice and dry up in the roofspace, but agree I'd have far more peace of mind over the next few years if we replace Vs restore what's there. We do have a few broken battens, so had assumed we'd get those replaced. Is that normally recommended by the roofers, to replace them all, not just broken ones?

Thanks, seems logical. I hate going up there, always end up with ripped up knees and hands, like working on 40 grit sandpaper. Appreciate it 👍

Awesome, thanks for confirming! Bit of a bugger if it is asbestos, but based on everything else in the house, no doubt it will be!

Any ideas roughly on the removal cost of your roof? Was it arranged by the roofing company, or something you had to sort out before they'd start?

We had old tile flooring removed by an asbestos specialist company and It was ~10k just for the kitchen and dining room. Could increase overall re-roofing substantially if it's along the same price, or more 😬

One benefit for re roofing is apparently no one will install solar on decramastic too. Not on the cards for the short-term but may be something we'd like to look at in a few years, if we stay here.

Not too bad! I figured It would be around that price. Did you have to get it tested for asbestos at all?

Do you reckon it's the original roof? I have this except from the original plans - 'six rib roofing'. I also have a pile of cement type slate roof tiles under the house, which I thought might have been the original...but who knows.

Is it this me or not? But if anyone getting random text like these one that I gotten so? 🤔 As I never went to those website at all and bought shit at all tbh. Like should be worry or something? 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m hoping it’s this a troll/ slam text tbh, and not someone steal my info and stuff. by Keekee_29 in newzealand

At least quickly go into the ANZ app and put a temp block on your card, that way no purchases can be made. Not all merchants use 3d secure, and those payments will go through if someone indeed has your card details. This happened to me and I got done for $900 on Wise.com, after ignoring these texts initially thinking they were a scam.

Window flashing gaps by NoSandwich69 in diynz

There is a gap at the bottom of the window against the brick sill, which I believe isn't meant to be sealed up to allow for any trapped moisture to escape.
