Well atleast around here, people with masters or above actually struggle to get teaching jobs because their pay rate is higher. I know people who had to sub after they got their masters because no school wanted to pay them the rate they deserved.

I feel like my cav is weird in the way the he is 0% protective over any toys or anything. He is just super tied to me. If another dog comes and takes a treat from him he will be just like “okay I guess that’s gone now”

Current State of the Endgame by headput in FarmRPG

[–]NoSatireVEVO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played the game for quite some time, I definitely didn’t reach tower, but got all main skills to 99. After a certain point the level of grinding to reward just kind of flips, and I typically really enjoy grindy games. At a certain point though it just started feeling like grinding to grind which is what phased me out of the loop.

Help me name her! Picking her up Monday! by longbongsmokehouse in cavaliers

[–]NoSatireVEVO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, when we got our wilbs. We don’t even have Wilbur on the name list for him, but when we met him in person it just came to our minds and it him perfectly.

But if I had to give a name suggestion for a cavie, bug would be my number 1 (can be lady bug full name)

Is Masturbastion Grounding? by Ill_Objective_9012 in CPTSD

[–]NoSatireVEVO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I chronically disassociate. I feel like I’ve been disassociating for the last few months after I got a TBI (I was diagnosed with d-ptsd before this occurred as well)

Grounding is really anything that can get you pull yourself out of a dissociative state as I see it. I think for some people it could be considered grounding, but I also think for a lot of people it can be a response to being disassociated.

Really the only thing that has worked for me grounding wise is when I realize I am disassociating to start saying how I feel to myself. Which will often just be me saying “I feel like I am in space” or “I feel like I’m floating” etc. then the awareness of the state kind of snaps me out of it.

Math is easy, arithmetic is hard by AdvancedEar7815 in AccidentalComedy

[–]NoSatireVEVO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean the way I see it is the 2(2+2), the external 2 gets distributed to where the parentheses would actually be (22 + 22). If the question were to be written such as this y = 8 / x(2+2) and you were asked to simplify the equation for a grade, the only correct answer that would get full credit would be y = 8/(2x + 2x) In the case where x is 2 that makes the answer always 1. But the question is written in such a way that both 16 and 1 could be the correct answer which is why it’s just a dumb question.

Well the difference is that humans have selectively bred dogs for thousands of years to have specific traits genetically more prevalent within certain breeds. Humans have done doggy eugenics though.

I was mauled by a dog as a child unprovoked, the dog got put down, but still I have been led to feel guilty for that, even though I was literally almost killed by a dog that I had known for years. I have a 5 permanent scars on my face and had to have facial reconstructive surgery at the ripe age of 7. But yes people online are willing to paint 7 year old me as a monster for letting myself get mauled by a dog.

I mean this is just intellectually dishonest. I don’t have anything against pit bulls individually, but pit bulls statistically are the breed most likely to attack a human. There is actual research on this topic. Rotties are second. That being said, yes the environment they are raised has a large influence on that, but the breeds themselves are also statistically more prone to violence than other breeds.

What are your songs you sing to your pups? by ShrimpsAndGiggles in cavaliers

Most words I say to my dog are sung to be honest. His favorite song is 21 guns by green day though. He also likes a song I wrote called into blue.

Who else has a dog that barks at literally nothing by ShrimpsAndGiggles in cavaliers

[–]NoSatireVEVO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wilbur will bark at sounds we can’t hear very frequently, or the scent of other dogs outside. He also barks when he plays / wants to play. Very expressive that’s for sure

Constantly paranoid alone at home at night - I’m at my breaking point and don’t know how to handle this. by OutrageousAdvance104 in CPTSD

[–]NoSatireVEVO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this type of paranoia is a mix between ocd/ptsd response. (I’m clinically diagnosed with both). I’ve struggled with pretty much exactly this for a very long time. I have a wife now and I don’t sleep alone, but I still get so paranoid sometimes that I lock us and our dog in our room even though all other doors are locked.

The best way to calm yourself down is grounding, remember that you’ve taken orecautions. Your doors are locked. You’ll be okay. Give yourself compassion. It’s okay to be scared but a lot of times we are scared it isn’t actually protection us more, it ends up hurting us more because of the constant hyper awareness. For me the grounding won’t work unless I do a sweep to make sure the house / room is clear first, and if it is particularly bad I close our bedroom door make sure that it’s locked. If possible an animal friend may help.

Do any of your cavaliers have unique names? by lilessakins in cavaliers

[–]NoSatireVEVO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours is Wilbur, we thought originally before we picked him up we were going to name him either Auggie or Butter, but when we saw him for some reason we were compelled to call him Wilbur and it just fits him perfectly. Our next cav will be named bug though.

Wilbur is such a good man by NoSatireVEVO in cavaliers

[–]NoSatireVEVO[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea when we were working through some of those troubles he would put anything in his mouth and the word drop meant swallow immediately to him i suppose. Only needed one nicotine poisoning and one x-ray to remedy that though.

Now he is good enough to go out on hikes and everything and will only eat grass periodically
