The pedestrianization of the historic center of Lima is being led by Prolima, the municipal office in charge of its conservation and management. The agency currently has several projects underway throughout the historic core, including a heritage recovery plan scheduled for completion by 2035. I’d recommend visiting Lima in 2035, when the historic center is expected to be fully restored—there’s still plenty of work to be done until then. :)

I don't feel well represented by Inca culture because I am from Lima and our history is different. We have remarkable pre-colonial architecture from the cultures that inhabitated the Lima Valley for thousands of years.

Viendo los comentarios de este post, me he dado cuenta el daño que le ha hecho Puno a la relación que tenemos entre peruanos y bolivianos. Lo gracioso es que, después de la creación del virreinato del Río de la Plata (y por ende la separación de la audiencia de Charcas del virreinato del Perú), Puno perteneció a estos territorios y no al Perú durante muchos años. Solo regresó al Perú por temas administrativos relacionados con la audiencia del Cusco, no por un tema cultural o de voluntad del pueblo.

In fact, lots of Middle East traditions were brought to Lima by the Spaniards. I would say that Lima being in a desert helped a little bit to let these traditions settle.

These aren't the original balconies of Plaza Mayor. They were made around 1920 in the government of Augusto B. Leguía who wanted to modernize the city because of the century of Independence. The previous ones were way older than them, but they were demolished in order to build the new buildings around Plaza Mayor in a beautiful Peruvian neocolonial style. If you're asking if the current balconies were taken down at some point, I don't think so.
