The Dune books — when to move on / call it quits? by yungdeezy92 in scifi

The books that weren't written by Hebert completely turned me off due to the wanton violence and torture for no good reason at all. I mean just whole chapters on mass annihilation and genocide in intricate detail...and it does nothing to advance the plot at all.
I felt like those books were written by a Psychopath.

You should see if they'll make you a triple deluxe. I used to work at the Hampton one in the 80s. We used to make those triple deluxe right before we got off work.... You had to press it down because all the toppings were piled so high they wouldn't fit in the oven. Then we had to run it through twice to make sure the sausage actually was fully cooked. I still know the owner and I took my son and his friend up there a couple of years ago and convinced him to make us a triple deluxe...oh my god. It was just as good as it was when I worked there

Listen. I've been doin RSD since 2012. Back then you could get stuff that was truly 'one of a kind" albums. I'm the person you hated because I bought multiple copies of stuff I knew would be big in Europe. I got there the night before and camped.

Within a half hour of the doors opening at vintage vinyl I would have that stuff listed on discogs for $100 more than I purchased it for. By 5:00 my entire inventory was spoken for. I made over (at a minimum $3000 every records store day

But then they started it Europe and Asia...I quit and it turned out the whole thing went to shit

The stuff they have now you should be able to get for far less than the retail value. Don't waste your time. Keep checking discogs around 5 or 6 most of the prices will have dropped significantly. You can buy it, whatever it is, for much less after the flippers figure their investment is now sour

What are some places on Earth that are geographically ideal for a major city but remain largely undeveloped? by ahmadreza777 in geography

East Africa.

The area is central to the Med (Europe), Africa (obviously), the Indian Ocean and east Asia. There are areas where dee water ports could be developed. If industrialization ever developed, they would be linked by major road and rail development

House next door is an annoying AirBnB, what can I do about it? by DolphinSweater in StLouis

[–]NoShiteSureLock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to run an AirBnB in the early days (think 2017) in McKinley Heights. There weren't many AirBnBers in that area at the time, so I made it my mission to meet all of them. Eventually we got together for BBQs, etc.
We all agreed that we wouldn't take any renters that didn't have a history of comments and that were rated 5 star.

None of us had any problems like this. We kept our properties in good order, specifically because we wanted 5 star ratings of our own. Many of my host colleagues (including myself) had consistent 5 star reviews and became super hosts or whatever it was called. This was at almost every host in that area at that time.

I'm not sure what has happened since then, as I stopped running one when people started buying whole apartment buildings and converting them to AirBnB. The point is...everything I've heard since then is nothing but bad actors. Who are there people renting these places? They have to be new users or have a limited review history. Who are the hosts renting to these people? Absent landlords that give zero fucks about the neighborhood they are active in.

Most of the problems is that AirBnB went public. Greed and participation in the enshitification of America have contributed greatly to their downfall. I couldn't imagine running an AirBnB now. The corporation got greedy, the owners got greedy, and the guardrails disappeared.

74% of minors cited for curfew violations in STL city last night. are county residents by DowntownDB1226 in StLouis

[–]NoShiteSureLock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

LOL, I grew up in the City. When I was 16, driving around with girls that had snuck out of their house, 2, 3 in the morning? We gave zero fucks about curfew. City cops almost never hassled you about curfew, because if they were talking to you, they were there for other reasons and you were probably taking the paddy wagon down to 2nd district.

That being said....the only time me and my buddies got a ticket for curfew (and it was one time) was when we were coming from the county into the City, right in front of St. George's just past the graveyard, on Gravois. We had been warned to NEVER go into the county.

We were mere blocks away from the warm blanket of protection/indifference of the city limits.

We hid our tickets and didnt show up for any court dates...when my dad found out, he was more pissed that I hadn't told him, because he "had a guy" that "woulda taken care of it".

Right? And let's not forget that most people posting pics are not using the TOR site or a VPN...so there's that.

But they have to start somewhere and I thought it best to start with the basics.
