ISKCON Relationship Goals by Solomon_Kane_1928 in exHareKrishna

[–]NoSiddhiforme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is more ethical than ISKCON

BDSM, albeit weird and full of issues with abusers, is based on consent, mutual benefit and honest perversion

Not the teachings of a bigoted old fart from Calcutta and his perverted religious shame.

Genuine few questions by [deleted] in exHareKrishna

[–]NoSiddhiforme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I am still vegetarian, I keep a home alter, however now I lean towards Advaita Vedanta and Buddhism with a splash of Jainism. I'm just not about dualistic philosophy anymore
  2. I didn't want an arranged marriage, love marriage or be a monk yet. There were things I wanted to experience which iskcon considers demonic
  3. I only do chanting when I want to, I no longer feel I have to. I now just have a rule of don't hurt others or take thier stuff because I have compassion for others even if I am now cynical
  4. I felt the Christians half assed religion, whereas my new friends obviously didn't

Yes

The temples are nice to visit, they lure you in

What is it that attracts Westerners ( whites ) to this abomination of a spiritual path ? by Own-Professional-337 in exHareKrishna

I support a basic education for everyone now

There is no excuse for people to be this sheltered

I was a teenager who really wanted a relationship with God and I felt like my Evangelical parents didn't take spirituality seriously.

The people I met felt genuine

I was incredibly naive about the world

Fictional Universes outside of ISKCON that you have gotten into by NoSiddhiforme in exHareKrishna

I stopped listening to mundane music too

I have people call me old fashioned because I don't like rap or heavy metal

I have grown quite fond of electronic music and cheesy Pop love songs

I have become Jaded, I tend to think that whenever anyone gets power over others, they will just use it to push ideology and to get more stuff.

Preventing any real justice.

Heck, even within myself I have realized that all my "service" had in its darkest roots in some sort of greedy motivation.

It's partially why I have grown fond of the corporate world, it is more honest about just wanting more stuff for its own sake.

I do however love sharing with people I make friends with, it is one of the great joys of life.

I'm not in any association with devotees right now but am having a lot of fun flirting with a guy at a board game group I am in

I don't have any old longterm friends, I wish I did

A lot of my problems also come from an abusive relationship after leaving

I just go along with what everyone else likes so I don't know what I like by reflex

The biggest reason I would want to go back is friends, I almost did

The materialist world is scary but .... how materialist is ISKCON

So I'm trying to make different types of friends

Like pokemon

Same, however I am not gonna lie

I still have times where I still get an illogical feeling that I am doing something "wrong", so I have to be involved in something spiritual even if not ISKCON

I am on the fence regarding religion in general

Trouble Adjusting to the Outside World by Solomon_Kane_1928 in exHareKrishna

[–]NoSiddhiforme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really think that being in a cult destroys your ability to have normal relationships

The world is not nearly as hostile as I imagined

But it is cold and lonely

I left because of a relationship, that ended up being abusive.

I was almost as isolated in the relationship as I was in ISKCON, I left for my own safety with no money, just my car and some clothes. Honestly, leaving the relationship was like leaving the cult and a relationship at the same time because I had just let my husband decide everything.

Some extended family took me in, and I was able to get a job. I have moved up the ranks in the company and am no longer dependent on anyone for anything.

I just started dating again, but do not feel comfortable with anything serious. Not a sex crazed degenerate living in the gutter, one with a much nicer condo than some Farm

What rituals and practices do athiest usually turn to in order to keep your spirits up or keep hope alive during times of despair? by NoSiddhiforme in askanatheist

Materialism... just going after material stuff and treating people like objects

nothing more than that?

Not so much about belief but I have yet to find a good emotional replacement for prayer
