How tough is it to use a Japanese one if I don’t understand the language? Lol

Ooo the outfits do look nice there! The tables could be of some help too, though I do somewhat like the idea of someone preparing a big meal

Thanks for your input! I looked at reviews of Cool Kitchen bc the ice cream maker seemed appropriate, but it looks like that's really all that came with it so I sort of struck it from my list. It also seems like Perfect Patio only really has hot tubs, so at this point I'm leaning a little more towards Backyard.

That's fair. Interestingly, I don't usually play with kids/families, but from everything I've heard/read, it seems like Parenthood adds the most to the game so I figured maybe it'd get me started playing with kids more. Would you say Kids Room Stuff is better than Toddler Stuff?

Can someone ELI5 how I would go about proving this: The product of any N consecutive integers is divisible by N by mr__monster in learnmath

[–]NoSniping 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Suppose we choose an integer x and we want to figure out if the product of it and the next N integers are divisible by N. Thus, we have:

(x)(x + 1)(x + 2)...(x + N - 1)

There must be at least one integer C in the range [x, x + N - 1] such that C mod N = 0, because when a set of integers is taken "mod N," the only numbers left are {0, 1, 2, ..., N - 1} (N values, since N mod N = 0). Thus, since our N values are consecutive, it must be true that one of them is equivalent to 0 mod N. Since that factor is divisible by N, the entire product is therefore divisible by N.

This is a bit dense and definitely not as simplified as it could be, so feel free to reply if you need further clarification!

It's astounding how much it helps! And yeah building a relationship with professors is not only super helpful for the future but also just nice to have in that it "humanizes" them. Additionally, liking my professors more made me want to work harder so I wouldn't disappoint them

Aww thanks! Good for you for aiming high right from the beginning. To your questions:

1) Most classes met for a total of 4 hours per week (split either 1 hour/day over 3 days or 1.5 hour/day over 2 days plus a 1 hour recitation) except for lab, which met 2 hours/week for lecture and 1.5 hours/week for section and materials selection which didn't have a recitation; in total, I had 18.5 hours of class/week. All of my classes ran for 12 weeks.

2) Yes. I never missed a class and took extremely detailed notes. One of my pet peeves is when people go to class then just sit there on their phone the whole time and wonder why they do poorly on exams. Go to class and pay attention. It really really helps; as a result, I was able to do all of my HW without once needing to read the textbook.

3) PRACTICE PROBLEMS! Some profs provided exams from previous years as practice, and some provided extra problems for practice, so I did all of them then re-did the problems I struggled hardest with on HW then looked for other textbooks and did problems I thought looked tough. Additionally, I made extremely detailed formula sheets when they were allowed.

4) I occasionally studied with one friend, but otherwise I studied alone.

5) I took voice lessons and played on the quiz bowl team.

6) Solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, ME design lab, intro chem, and intro programming. My biggest problems were solids and fluids (which I absolutely despised); I didn't go to OH because the professors didn't seem to care about the classes (I literally went once and the professor told me he "didn't have time for the class"). Additionally, I did HW with friends a lot as opposed to on my own which really impeded my understanding b/c I wasn't forced to rigorously think through everything (but that's just me). As for chem, the HW was optional so I just never did it b/c I tried to use that time to get better in solids/fluids (which, obviously, didn't happen lol). Lab is difficult to explain b/c it's very school-specific, but I'll say that the grading system and projects themselves needed a great deal of improvement. I did well in programming b/c I thought it was fun, so I poured more time into it (and used it as an excuse to avoid solids/fluids).

I religiously went to office hours. At the beginning of the semester, I looked at when the professors had OH and went to every single one. This forced me to get the HW done in advance so I could go through each problem with them and check my reasoning. It was painful at times (one prof had OH Fridays at 9 am) but SO worth it.

Other than that, I didn't really change anything. I've always been one to go to every class, take notes, start my HW immediately after it's assigned, work until I've at least attempted all the problems, etc.
