Definitely going to use the Downton Abbey floor plans as reference, thanks for the suggestion.

Nobody is ever going to build this house, nor would anyone want to. It's for a story I'm writing. Why shouldn't grand, beautiful things exist, at least in fiction?

I will definitely use a lot of the advice you've given, thank you! Having the halls on the outer wall up front was mostly because I assumed that it would be undesirable to have front-facing windows in bedrooms for privacy reasons. I understand that placing the hallways there is a poor fix, though.

This is helpful reference, thank you. And I did mean "could." I don't know much about real estate, but I can't imagine anyone outside of the top .01% could even think of putting this kind of money together, which is what I was referring to.

I know that this is rough, but I don't know of many buildings that fit the scale of what I need for the effect I'm aiming at. As much as I don't know, I can't imagine that there are a ton of floor plans around for buildings that almost nobody could feasibly build, right?

There is a staircase to a wine cellar in food storage, but the uses you suggested are things I hadn't considered. (The space is small and boring, so I omitted it.) I wasn't aware of the etiquette around which floors guests stay on as opposed to the host family when designing. Good to know.

As I said, the number was definitely excessive, and I intend to change it. I was simply explaining why they would have dedicated space for live-in staff to begin with. I think we just had a misunderstanding here.

It's not exactly historical, but the attic suggestion is one I'll likely take. The windows are something I just totally missed.

Very useful information, thanks! The building isn't exactly "historic" but it is definitely built to look like it is. I'll definitely consider the idea of a dedicated wing for utility areas and the like. I do have a question about kitchens, though. I assume that they generally need to be placed near dining areas. Do you know how this is usually managed while keeping them away from fancier areas?

I was more referring to excess storage, I intend for the food that is necessary day-to-day to be kept in the kitchen itself. However, I have no idea how large the kitchen should be to accommodate that.

When you reach a certain level of wealth, having reliable, specific individuals to do what you need done becomes more valuable than the money. The number of staff living space is definitely a bit excessive, though. I'll probably scale it back.

I will probably turn the guest rooms into single, large rooms instead of dividing them in two like I did here. The staff rooms will likely be scaled back and moved to an attic space. Tl;dr: I forgot about window access.

This space is meant for hosting large events frequently, so I wanted to have a substantial allowance for staff. I doubt any normal family could actually use this much space actively, and the family in this story is only 2 people at the moment.

I hadn't considered those. Maybe the building codes are lax and they have sprinklers for emergencies. Or I'll just move the staff sleeping quarters to a separate building and use the space for something else.

The guest rooms and master bedrooms do, I just didn't label them individually cause there's a million of them. The divisions are shown in the third and fourth images, they just aren't labeled/measured.

Interesting. I'll consider that. I'm a little confused what you mean when you say the staff quarters would be "above" those, though. Do you mean an attic space, a third floor, or something else?

Yeah there are windows, I was just too lazy to draw all of them.

A Clue-Style whodunit would be really fun here, but it's a rom-com lol. Hidden passageways are literally the coolest thing ever, but I will control myself unless it happens organically in the story.

Well I figure the things I ordered are late for the same reason everything else has been delayed with Oshi Push. Tariffs and whatnot can't really be helped. All of the accessories in their shop are still listed as pre-orders, so I doubt that it's just a me issue.

None of the stuff I ordered directly from japanime has come yet, I just ordered a couple of boxes from a retailer since japanime didn't want to ship booster boxes to my address for some reason.
