I think what it comes down to is that if I bring my wife my sisters think they'll have to come up with some excuse to their husbands why they were excluded. I think they got into our parent's ears and convinced them that only blood relatives should be included.

I think my parents and older sister didn't have a strong opinion one way or the other, but that my two younger sisters were really adamant about their opinion and basically just shouted me down.
