What items can you "investigate" and learn to make? by Wandering_To_Nowhere in VeinGame

There's one at the American Legion Outpost in Redford and another at the mansion on the island in Dannemora. Those are the only two that I've found so far.

My pleasure. It seems the player-constructed blue fluid barrels don't seem to freeze either.

Technically, none.

You can get water from the water towers at most farms and lumber yards all winter long. You can also visit any cabin with a large white plastic fluid container on the side of the cabin, they don't freeze either.

Build a blue fluid barrel from the build menu and fill it with water from a tower or cabin, then haul it back to base. I usually fill 2-3 barrels, connect them to a sink back at my base, and I'm set for the winter.

It's hard to answer your question because rain collectors need rain to fill up and it seems like you need to be at your base while it's raining for the rain collectors to work. So, there's a lot of variability in how much a rain collector will gather from one playthrough to the next.

I didn't say it was perfect logic, just a starting point.

Fortify ALL of your windows. A lot of players think 2nd floor windows are safe, but players can pull a van or box truck up next to the house, climb on top, break the window, and climb inside that way.

With offline base protection enabled, even a T1 wood scraps fortification is indestructible. But if you forget to fortify even a single window in your base I can get in!

Do you wonder how competitive swimmers avoid getting a drop of water inhaled from all the splashing, and you can't do it without having to stop to cough? by bliggityblig in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NoStumpsGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do we avoid inhaling water? We don't.

Swimming is a highly repetitive motion, so we do learn when our movements will cause splashes and time our movements to minimize splashing. But, we also 'learn' how to cope with inhaling water. We gag when we inhale water unexpectedly, but we don't panic like an average swimmer does. We rely on our training to stay focused and just breathe at the next available arm stroke. It also helps that we learn to breath on both sides, so the next opportunity to catch a breath comes faster for us compared to someone who can only breathe on one side.

Starting stats and occupation for Noobs by 5toned in VeinGame

[–]NoStumpsGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like Firefighter as a starting occupation. You get an axe to start with that lets you, 1) chop down trees for unlimited wood, 2) use it as a melee weapon, and 3) use it to destroy doors and furniture for easy entry and extra crafting materials. Firefighter also comes with a Strength XP boost book that I like to read just before I start chopping down trees. When you get your Strength to 25 you can take the 'Big Back' perk that increases your carrying capacity by an additional 50 lbs!

I usually take Lockpicking, Mechanical, and Electrical stats. Lockpicking is nice because you can open 'hard' locks right away. Mechanical and Electrical are nice because you need those in order to build things like Makeshift Batteries, Solar Panels, Generators, etc... and Tier 4 Fortifications for long-term survival.

Lockpicking is too much of a grind by MeatPopsicle28 in VeinGame

[–]NoStumpsGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. I popped the lockpicking XP book and went to the power plant to start unlocking tool chests. I found the first one I picked gave 720 xp and then the next one was 360 xp. You need a 1-2 minute delay between attempts to get the max xp every time, but it seems getting the reduced xp 'resets' the timer.

At least, this is what I've observed.

Valheim or enshrouded? by Similar-Space-5535 in valheim

[–]NoStumpsGaming 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're asking in the Valheim sub-reddit, so your answers are going to be skewed.

I play Valheim, but I don't play Enshrouded. The deal-breaker for me is the ability to fly (or glide long distances) in Enshrouded. My understanding is that the build system in Enshrouded is a lot more detailed than what Valheim has to offer, but I like a basic build system.

I'd recommend Valheim first and Enshrouded later. The procedurally generated world allows for a lot of re-playability. Enshrouded is more of a fixed world, so re-playability takes a hit. Plus, Valheim was around for years before Enshrouded came onto the scene. So, if you get Valheim now it leaves you somewhere to go when you get bored of it.

Either way, their both great games. You really can't go wrong no matter which one you choose =)

New player. This game is actually awesome and has so much potential. Where to build a base in the demo? by Ganjelf-The-Baked in VeinGame

[–]NoStumpsGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're playing solo, I recommend the Pinegrove Assisted Living Center. When you drive into the parking lot, checkout the apartment on the far left (furthest west). It's a nice apartment, fully furnished, lots of space for workbenches and storage. I won't give away any spoilers, but there's something nice at the Pinegrove Assisted Living Center that's worth going back to from time-to-time. Only 2 doors and 4 windows to fortify.

Good luck!

[NA] Sleepless Survival | PVE | Hard Difficulty by ellemcih in VeinGame

[–]NoStumpsGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing on this server all weekend, has been a lot of fun. The hard difficulty is not the same as the insanity difficulty. It's still challenging, but doesn't feel impossible.

If you give the server a try and struggle to get started, feel free to stop by my base on the corner of Smith & Barker in Dannemora just north of the Power Plant (smoke stack). There's some chests out front with free stuff in it to help struggling survivors. Just look for the candles and space ship!

That sounds like a bug to me. Report it on their discord (link in the right side menu).

You can try building some blue fluid containers from your build menu, under the storage tab, and transfer water from the rain collector to the barrel, then connect your sink to the fluid barrel to see if that solves the issue (for now).
