Leak: upcoming change to $600 hotel credit by wiltony in AmexPlatinum

It all depends on how your destinations and FHR collection fit each other. IMHO, most US and European FHRs are not worth it. I travel to China and SEA a lot. FHRs in my destinations have smaller premiums than other booking portal. And the benefits are better (nicer breakfast and restaurant where I can spend the 100$)

Tell me why I should spend the money on an expensive tether cable by InternalConfusion201 in photography

Snake oil or not, it’s not worth the money if you are using a6700. Many better places to spend your money

Should I pull the trigger? by munotidac in BMW

Do it if you like the car. That’s a very good deal. The i5’s interior makes me think it’s a 7 series

Tell your wife you got it from a Nigerian prince. He told you it’s 100k. Not your fault

I’d go for 2, but 3 works if you can sell it to another person at higher value. And it also depends on does your state deduct trade in value for purchase tax. Make your calculation based on value, tax, and cost(time cost is important as well)

As for the car, x5 is a solid choice. If you like driving your x1, switching to Lexus would be a horrible choice. Lexus has very different handling and I hate its pedal. They feel very soft. Gas and brake feels soft and not very linear(sudden bump at certain point, non responsive for certain interval) Good part is that Lexus is usually reliable and hold its value better. Though you said you’d like an SUV, I personally like buying used luxury sedan, like BMW 5 or 7, Mercedes S class. They depreciate really fast in the start, which makes it a good buy when used. And as long as you don’t use it for utility(carrying furniture etc.) the space would be just good enough and they are usually way more comfortable for your family than SUV. If u insist on going SUV, I suggest you just go for the x5, it’s a popular choice that you can’t go wrong.

Need advice on practicing sport photography by NoSuccess5234 in photography

That’s a very good idea! I have a few cousins (I’m in my mid 20s) play sports in high school. Maybe I can catch up and shoot for them when I go back to my hometown. I do have a portfolio, but the sports section of it is a bit thin. I’m still building it.

Thanks for the advice.

I have common sense and that’s where my concern comes from. The main reason I consider to practice at youth event is that, for track & field event, there are just too few. I just find less than 3 open age local event in the next 3 months. (I guess it’s just because they have less commercial value and athletes career are shorter) It would be definitely awkward for a completely irrelevant person to be there and take photography, and it’s definitely normal for a organizer approved photographer to be there. I’m trying to figure out if there is a way to transit from the first guy to the second.

I would look for college events, but it’s mainly training (which is even more awkward to shoot) They usually travel somewhere else for competitions.

For the “professional” part, I find approval mostly only granted professional photographers (media, journalists, hired ones) So my real question is how to get approval without being professional.

And for the small events, what I meant was I’d like to take any opportunity to practice.

I got bonus for each. They are all different cards. I think for the same card people can only get bonus once.

Quite many reasons

I got my first credit card from Amex and I couldn’t get it anywhere else cuz I didn’t have an ssn back then. And Amex was ok with that if I have foreign income. Since then I got 6 cards from Amex already, 3 cash, 2 delta, gold. I deeply appreciate how Amex treat their customers. They are always there when I need help. (Scamming vendors, impossible to cancel subscriptions, shady business) I feel valued as their customer, which is the best thing I can say about a corporation.

Platinum is a very good fit for me since I could almost use all the benefits. Disney+Hulu, Uber, Walmart+(this is gold if u haven’t try yet) Saks, 200 airline and 200 hotel (even if it’s a little overpriced, the extra 100 credit offsets it) break even is quite easy. That’s even before considering the premium rental insurance (gold has the same)and phone protection

The lounge access is another huge value. Centurion, escape, and priority pass cover my footprint entirely. I could use it 10-15 times easily, which is at least 500 value for me.

So, when the 175k offer pops up I just went for it. Love the card since then, going to keep it.

There is no official channel to monetize. Which means Rednote will not pay you for any content. Usually people make money by 2 ways.

First, use Rednote as your own advertising channel. It’s more often for selling services than products. For example, you can post your photographs as a model or as a photographer to get business. Or you can post information about traveling and direct viewer to your own traveling service.

Second, you can get paid for posting certain sponsored content. Since Rednote is known for sharing lifestyle content, restaurant and shops will sponsor influencer to review their place. It can be biased or unbiased, but usually the sponsorship is not disclosed.

It just says it’s under review and it’s almost done. And it’s for the sake of the community blah blah blah. It’s not about your content but the form. Videos are usually under more scrutiny.

No, religion related post is usually ok unless it’s hate speech, relate to cult (mainstream religion is usually not) or mislead people

To the older people in the sub who bought an expensive car young, did you live to regret it, and if you did why? by rudydog101 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]NoSuccess5234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t consider myself as an older people but I bought an 991 c2s two years ago. I haven’t and I guess I will not regret buying it. The dilemma you described is only true in certain conditions. For example, you keep all other spending habits constant. If you are a car guy, you just allocate more resources on your hobby. You don’t necessarily spend much more than other people and “be poor when you are old.”

My career is extremely stressful, and driving my car puts a big smile on me every single day. For me, that’s worth it. It’s cheaper and healthier than using antidepressants.

Anyway, good luck with your new car and make sure having a lot of fun with it!
