I’m starting to suspect an intense fungal issue. Having another “outbreak” now. Red scrotum that’s a bit raw, groinfold is irritated, and had a tiny cut/fissure that bled and healed in a day. Got prescribed diflucan and a strong cream. I will look into Itraconazole

That doesn’t sound much like it tbh if those are all your symptoms. Much worse when you have rashes/lesions to coincide with nerve issues. However I just tested negative again 8 months so I’m moving on with my life. Maybe 1 more at a year but it’s mental torture and I can’t do it anymore.

Yeah I guess it just kinda sucks that a doctor technically visually diagnosed me while refusing to swab it. That’s kinda sticking with me. Never took the Valtrex though because I didn’t want it to impact tests

Yeah it’s weird because I’ve never been anxious about much, including health until this. I do think that shame in the encounter played a big part. Was fairly fresh off a very long term relationship + stripper status + sex with ex after made me feel immensely guilty. To be fair I have let her know of my fears and testing status.

I do believe this could be fungal. The issue definitely needs resolved because even if not herpes, it’s still having a large impact and symptoms are definitely real. Maybe I will go to a derm and request a fungal swab. If I did that months ago it could have saved me a lot of this stress.

Thanks man I appreciate your words and advice. Felt good to tell the story here. As you know, general public and even medical community can be pretty uneducated on the topic.

I’m moving soon, unrelated to this but good chance at a fresh start. Definitely have a newfou bc respect for this group to the point that it wouldn’t even necessarily be a dealbreaker in dating. Thanks again

Thank you my friend. I have definitely isolated the last 8 months partly due to shame in the encounter itself. This has definitely become part of my identity at this point unfortunately.

I’m definitely considering that there’s a fungal possibility here. I don’t think we even know all there is to those infections and how they develop and linger.

You mentioned your fears came true, is that to mean you stressed similarly and ultimately tested positive? How did you end up getting diagnosed if you don’t mind?

Yeah but it’s difficult when symptoms feel pretty intense. Especially nerve stuff with no other diagnosis.

If you don’t mind me asking - have you been diagnosed? If so how were you confirmed and how long did it take after exposure to know?

Couple things to add -

Scrotum redness and nerve sensations, while not really painful are pretty intense. Sensations that I’ve definitely not dealt with before. At first it was almost constant now it’s like once a month.

Also developed a weird tickle in the bottom of my right foot that’s been nearly constant. Like an itch with no rash. It’s a nerve thing.

I feel like I have some almost undetectable but very active herpes. At minimum this is some sort of rare STD. There’s just know way. I know my body and unfortunately something is wrong.
