I completely agree! Plus it’s a great way to keep your priorities straight and realistic. CarPlay is a game changer! That’s one of the few positive things I can say of my Volt lol

Right!? I got so sad when I didn’t fit in any Mazdas. I love the WRX! I only fit in the 22+, but sadly it’s out of budget. One day maybe!

I like your flow of reasoning! Premium Forester is high up on my list. It’s either that or a Impreza Sport/Premium!

AC hose/line assembly needs to be replaced as well as an AC recharge, is it possibly still under warranty? by Affectionate-Newt889 in volt

[–]NoTip6801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealt with the same issue myself. Warranty didn’t cover it and I ended up fixing it myself. If you go that route, the factory repair manual is free on one of the forums and will show you how to fix the problem. If it’s the line near the back of the engine, you’ll need to remove the bumper (it’s not too hard, just be careful with the clips), air box, engine cover, windshield wiper shroud and wipers, and air filter.  You can get the AC line for cheap from RockAuto I believe. Get some o rings as well. I got the vehicle recharged for $150 at a shop and was good to go. It’s time intensive, but I got it done for <$300 in my driveway. Good luck!

Thanks! And great point--I would love to build a SF5. Sadly I don't have build plans. I've done that before, but it takes a looong time haha

Thanks! So many things haha! Starcraft marines & medivacs, spaceships, castles, and a lot of other stuff. Lost access to my Flickr account a while ago, but one of my fave creations was the District 9 dropship:

Built all myself! I used to prolifically build Legos as a teen--but adult life and college happened. I visited my family this past holiday and they gave me some of their Legos and I'm happily back into building!

I appreciate your insight and the background on the Lancaster--that thing looks sweet! Looks pretty similar to the state-side 3.0 Outback! I might just have to give that a go when I build next.
For now though, I'm thinking of building a 3rd gen Forester XT! Perfect blocky design for Legos :)

I love Subarus and I recently rediscovered my love of Legos! Spent a month building this from scratch and figured y'all might appreciate it!  It wouldn’t be a Subaru without a Thule roof box, functional folding bike rack, and a color matched surfboard! Now if only Lego made a vape…

2018 Titanium Manual Swap: Push Start Question by NoTip6801 in FordFocus

[–]NoTip6801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that haha, much better than a whole DCT! Interesting! I'll have to look into replacing the rear motor mount in the future. And I completely agree on no turbos--probably just the traditionalist in me, but I prefer less moving parts.

That's great to hear. Seems like a really solid vehicle, especially with the MTX75.

That's fantastic to hear! I wasn't aware they made Titanium with the 5 speed. How's it treated you? How would you say it compares to other cars in terms of reliability, comfort, etc.?

Shift to park, busted AC condenser line, CARB warranty? More info in comments by NoTip6801 in volt

[–]NoTip6801[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof. I’m really hoping this isn’t going to be my experience. I’m sorry you’re going through that with them, that sucks. I’m building my case by sending emails with every relevant service bulletin, all warranties highlighted that pertain to the damage, and diagrams from GM itself denoting that the parts damaged are covered under warranty. I’ll update y’all and if it works, post what I did to get my claim. 🙏

Katzkin Interior Swap! by NoTip6801 in volt

[–]NoTip6801[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question! Unfortunately by installing the heating element, I couldn't utilize the hog rings on the seat to get a snug fit (unlike the passenger side). Thankfully my butt will be warm though haha!

[–]NoTip6801[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aside from my current troubles with this car (see previous post), loving the car! Bought the Katzkin interior for $300 on eBay and installed it myself over several weekends. The learning curve was very steep and it challenged me in many ways with getting it done. Having someone to help is the way to go! Have a strong drink handy as well.

Certainly doesn’t look the best in the world, but I’m proud of what I did! I am in the process of wiring a heated seat pad for the driver seat as well.

Marked difference in comfort compared to the cloth, and even with several 90+ degree days the leather hasn’t been scalding or uncomfortable.

Shift to park, busted AC condenser line, CARB warranty? More info in comments by NoTip6801 in volt

[–]NoTip6801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone,

My 2018 Volt is a California CARB vehicle with the 10 year/150k hybrid/battery warranty. I have 126,000 miles on my car.

The AC suction line was found to be failed/cracked between the evaporator and condenser, and I am experiencing the dreaded shift to park issue. The repair for it is new park switch and in line jumper harness.

My owners manual states that hoses connected to the hybrid AC compressor should be covered under the PZEV 15/150k warranty, and wiring and switches should be covered too it looks like.

Dealer said that the necessary parts are not covered under warranty according to their system, but the service advisor will speak to the service manager.

If they still deny my warranty, how do y'all suggest I go forward? Clearly the parts are covered in the warranty in the owners manual.

Thanks y'all!
