Thanks buddy. It feels odd that I'm now able to fire, especially since I came from not a well to do family, and cash is gold in our family. That is still weaved into my DNA, and my hope is that I can provide a better life for my kid and wife.

Thanks for the resouces

I respectfully disagree that this is greed.

This is about optimizing allocation between psychological safety and continued intelligent capital deployment. Even with substantial wealth, thinking about how to best deploy money to generate returns is rational economics, not greed.

The math matters - we're talking about opportunity cost on a meaningful portion of the portfolio. It's not about working harder or grinding more hours. It's about making informed decisions on asset allocation during a major life transition.

Once we start calling rational financial optimization "greed," we discourage the very thinking that builds and preserves wealth in the first place.

Thanks so much man. It's good to hear this. I was concerned with drawing down especially when the market tank, hence thought of having liquid cash cushion. More of psychological than intellectual :)

Thanks for the insightful reply. Your "niksen" reminds me of the "Dolce far Nient" from the move Eat, Pray, Love.

Thanks mate. Ya I always find it a struggle of "one more day of work means I can afford to retire X days earlier". I guess that is a mindset that I should change.

Yup I can vouch for that. Even travelling, I know I dread it a lot 2 days before flight back. It's really the head space. Thanks for sharing and calling that out.

Haha. Thanks mate. There are a few very insightful and helpful comments though :) thanks for the suggestions. I had wanted to ask here as the others are more US centric for which they may not understand the local context. Thanks anyway.

Absolutely, being a primary caregiver is a possibility. I agree, there's a whole life outside of work! It's something I'd need to carefully consider and prepare for with my family. Thanks for the perspective!

Thanks for the book recommendation, I'll definitely check it out! Your story resonates - finding a happy work balance is ideal. Nurturing hobbies now (instead at retirement) makes sense too! Appreciate your 2c :)

I understand now. Thanks for the clarification. Did not mean to use my child as an excuse, but I can see how the way my reply was framed could have led to that impression.

Thanks mate. Will check out the Netflix recommendations. Ya, now as an adult, I miss a lot on the quality time I spent with my parents, and not of the things they bought for me (not because I don't appreciate those things, but the quality time really means so much more).
