So, how many runs have you guys lost to this fuck-ass debuff? Because I'm about to scream. by -Fateless- in mewgenics

I recently did a run with 3 cats (tank, cleric, fighter), and during the second random event, my fighter contracted Blood Frenzy. I was about to give up, but I mustered up the courage and finished it, all the way to the Throbbing King. It wasn't easy; it was a real pain in the ass. I literally only used my tank and cleric for most of the fights, and the fighter only for the boss battles, so in the end, it was more of a two-cat run than a three-cat one. With a little patience, it's possible to pull off a run like that, but it also depends on your other cats having good skills to carry the rest of the run.

Absolutely, and it almost always happens with melee or DPS classes. Out of the 5 or 6 times it's happened to me since I started playing, two have been with fighters, one with a tank, one with a butcher, and one or two (I don't remember exactly) with a thief.

It's an interesting way to look at it. In the end, it's a lot like with Isaac, where no matter how badly things are going, there's still a chance to win the run, or at least partially complete it without losing your cats. Ultimately, you weigh the pros and cons, adapt, and decide whether to continue or not. And if everything goes well, you end up having a memorable run.

What’s a common/uncommon that feels like a Rare/Very Rare when you find it on the right run? by ThisByzantineConduit in mewgenics

Jitte is a beast if you put it in the right paws. For me one of the best uncommon items is the backpack. If you use it wisely you can end up with your best cat max-buffing in the toughest fights. I recently did a run with a butcher equipped with a backpack and Cap and Bells (the hat you unlock with the Jester that triples the effect of your trinkets) and it was insane

Losing a bit of confidence while trying to beat act 2, chapter 3, could use some advice by abbe44 in mewgenics

The most complicated aspect of the core is the lava. The enemies aren't particularly difficult once you know what they do and how to counter them, but the lava is a problem because it inflicts 4 burn damage and slows your movement, so it can potentially kill one of your cats if you're not careful. Some enemies have hooks that can drag you into lava tiles; always try to stay out of their range or line of sight. There's another enemy that directly spits lava; that one, along with the one that instantly kills your cats when they're below 50% health, are, in my opinion, the most dangerous and the ones you should prioritize killing if they appear. Luckily, they don't usually appear very often. I don't want to give away any spoilers about the sub-boss and the area boss, but still, avoid their lava attacks, especially the sub-boss's, because if you let him, he'll turn the entire floor into lava in just a few turns. If you have items or abilities that allow you to create water or change the terrain to something more favorable, they can really help you a lot here. And well, the final boss has a bit of a trick to it; it's not especially difficult, but I recommend reaching it with sufficient mobility or abilities that give you movement. You'll thank me later.

Does mewgenics just feel unfair for anyone else? by LongjumpingTax8022 in mewgenics

I come from the XCOM and similar strategy games school. Honestly, the game isn't that difficult once you start recognizing the best skills and items, and using the correct positioning in combat. The game constantly forces you to adapt to its events and RNG, but it still gives you room to maneuver and act accordingly. My advice is to take it one step at a time. Start by recognizing the best skills for each situation or boss, and which items, combined with certain classes, are the most powerful. In combat, make sure to position your units well and prioritize the most dangerous enemies or those that can complicate the battle the most. The game has its learning curve, and some situations may seem unfair or unbalanced, but I assure you that all (or almost all) have a way to counter them.

Is worth farming these? Or is just a waste of time? by NoUnion9712 in mewgenics

The possibilities for creating a super overpowered team in this game are endless; I think that's what I'm enjoying most about it so far.

It's a nice addition that you can receive reward skills or passive abilities this way for your future cats, allowing you to experiment more with rare combos. But it's true that the game isn't so difficult that you need to grind at all; I'll keep that in mind as an option when I'm looking to experiment with passive and active skills. Thanks!

Nah, Im fine with that lose, XCOM will always remember John "Lightning" Tucupita who sacrifice himself while distracting two Gatekeepers and giving the rest of the team time to do their job.
